why do you want to adopt any child?
don't you think you have lived your life already and deserve some down time.
your not young anymore. i think maybe you should reconsider hun.

Wow Gina that was kind of harsh. Parents don't stop loving their children when they reach a certain age. The willingness to provide an orphan a mother's love is a wonderful gift even at 51 years young.

i wasn't being harsh i was being honest just because i am honest. some people just don't have the common decency to be honest nowadays. i wasn't trying to hurt anyone's feeling. believe me i could've said so much more if i were a b*tch.

nancy i think it`s wonderful of you to want to adopt a child. so many children are out there who have rotten parents, or no parents. if you have the means, and the patience, go for it.

I have been a foster parent for over 6 years, What I found is a child 3 and under has less stress moving to new people and new suroundings then older kids. The older a child the harder it becomes. The more they resent it. Here in Baltimore we had a father throw his child off the bay bridge, parent are having a hard time and they dont want to go to the state for help. so why not rehome your child yourself like in the old days. I know that sounds like finding a home for a cat but that's not what I mean. People fear the government, maybe they would put the parent in jail that kind of thing or find abuse. Adoption agences are thousand of dollars, birth mothers sell a baby, some run scams, SS keep a child in foster care way to long and the child is damaged in the end. If we had a simple system where the families come together for the benifit of the child. With no money changing hands except for the paper work a few hundreds. I dont see a problem. People can open the door to a child and birth parent can go on about the life they wanted before the child. I hear a lot of single parent say they wish it was different well make it different before you cant handle it anymore and hurt of kill the child because you cant cope. Kick the car not the kid. I'm sure you all think I'm nuts thats ok. If you ever need me here I am. And I'm sure if you just ask, someone else will be there for you too. Just ask is all I'm saying.

Nancy: When you are into foster care it is unfortunate but you get to see the uglier side of our society. You are not weird or crazy, just more experienced in what goes on.
In my earlier post I was going to include something about kids getting twisted up by the system or well intentioned parents.
Good going! and God Bless you!

I think it is way cool of you to want to adopt! My parents did foster care as well and adopted 4 wonderful (albeit troubled) children who are ranging in age from 10-1 at this moment. I don't know if your state does this but the last child they adopted was a "safe surrender baby" that law allows moms to just hand over their baby to a "safe site" (like a hospital) within 3 days of the babys birth no questions asked they can give all the info they want or not... if your state does you might find out about putting your name on the list! Otherwise another thing my parents did is they made up a book that had pictures of them and us kids and told all about the house (pretty much all the info that you would want to know about a family adopting your child) and they made copies and gave one to every OB/GYN office in the area in hopes that someone who was considering adoption would read it and choose them... I wish you luck and hope you find what you are looking for!

I wish you much luck with your situation. Speaking as a "Birth Mother" it was the best decision I could make for all of my children, especially my daughter. It was rude what the other young woman said with re: your age. There are alot of parents out there around your age with children. At least you will be able to provide emotional & financial stability for a child. Unlike the majority of women who have them. If you would like to talk anytime. Just drop me a line. Have a great Easter Holiday.

If you want to adopt a child and have the means to do it, then you go for it. It sounds like you have plenty of love to share with a child. You go and get that child who needs someone to love them. they need people like you to be there for them. I say go for it.
