I personally find it cold and almost offensive. I think that if a person wants to talk to someone, they TALK, and see if there's an interest. To send a wink is like fishing....tossing out corn and chumming. I'm just wondering what others feel about this feature.

I am indifferent. I see it as away for someone who may be shy to hopefully start up a conversation, But then I think you are hidden by a screen name, I don't know you, write something, I don't know how it is with men for you ladies, but most, all but one has sent me an email. But I don't get offended or anything.

i feel the same about the "wink". in my opinion they should get rid of it. if some can't say "hi, how are ya?" then don't send anything at all.

I have tried long letters, short paragraphs, and winks. I do not get more responses from one than the other. Thinking I'd get more reponses from longer letters I wrote longer letters -- and they were ignored with pretty much the same frequency as the winks. I don't use winks anymore but I don't waste my time writing long letters either. My success rate is the same regardless of the method of contact I use.
Anyone who winks at me will always get a response and I am not offended in the least.

I appreciate all the replies here, cause it's good to hear other points of view.
I guess I feel that the computer is already a cold and impersonal thing without making it even more of a "shortcut" by doing a "wink" instead of saying, "Hey, read your profile and I am also interested in....whatever".

I think it don't matter what you do on here. If they don't like what they see in a FRICKIN picture, they don't respond.

I have to disagree. I have responded to emails from people that have no picture. I responded to the words, and what the person had to say.

I think its a way that someone can say "hey" without any pressure.... if there is something in the profile I/They don't like then they/I simply deletes no hard feelings ...now if they just keep sending winks then its annoying lol
