Personality |
Living as a single is not the worst that can happen to me. My life is pretty full with activities with family and friends. I enjoy almost all of the things I do. I have a pretty independent streak in me and also enjoy the freedom that I have to do as I please for the first time in my life.
There are times though when it would be very nice to have a good man in my life. Personally, I don't want just any man and I won't settle for just any man either. I want the right man for me, if he exists. The right man would be one who enjoys living; who likes to stay active, but who can also enjoy doing nothing from time to time. He would be a man who enjoys the partnership, the give and take, of a relationship. Our relationship would not be all about me anymore than it would be all about him.
Traveling is something I enjoy -- going almost anywhere, anytime. High school and college sports are also enjoyable to me. I love to read a good book and enjoy discussing that with another person who has read, or is reading the same book.
Am I mistaken about the subject of dating in 2009? Would it be too much to ask for a man to call me up, ask me out to dinner or a movie, just go on a date from time to time like I did when I was a teen? I used to enjoy dating back in those days; but am not sure that people today "date". I would like to be one who does.
My mother taught me not to call "boys" and I plan to follow her teaching. I don't want to be the one to initiate a relationship with a man. If he is interested in me, I hope he contacts me. If after we meet and spend time together, I would not hesitate to call him or ask him out from time to time; but, I won't do that in the beginning.
Dancing is something I loved to do also when I was younger. I still enjoy it, but like the slow dances better today than in the past. I tried going to singles' dances, but really didn't enjoy them. But from time to time, if I had the right partner, it would be fun to go out dancing.
The main type of social settings for me are athletic events, movies, dinner at a nice restaurant or even a local dive, small parties with close friends. Occasionally it is nice to get really dressed up and go out to a big event; but, that is not what I would want to do all of the time.
The beach and the mountains are equally appealing to me.
