I am a straightforward, no-frills, practical type of person, with lots of interests and always eager to learn something new. I love classical music, Beethoven is the true love of my life, unfortunately he is 6' under, otherwise I would not be on this website.  All my radios are tuned to 90.9, of course! and my favorite TV channels are PBS, Discovery and National Geographic, but I also enjoy watching Formula 1 races, winter sports and ballroom dancing. As a child I studied 5 years of ballet, but that was replaced by horses. A trip to the Vienna's Spanische Reitschule as a young teenager was very influencial for eventually becoming a classical dressage trainer and instructor and until recently I had my own small horse farm. Now I am retired from that activity and I live with my cat Boris and my dog Suzy, and lots of memories of my past 4-legged friends. Born and raised in northern Italy, I like to cook most of my meals and desserts, but an occasional dinner at the Red Lobster is also very enjoyable. And I am a chocoholic, a Lindt truffle being my end-of-the-day necessity! I like to do most repairs and upkeeps around the house and yard, and I can handle all power tools and woodworking. I am a graduate of a French University and I have a few more unusual diplomas. I have traveled a lot in the US (41 States so far), Canada and Europe and I have a list of more places that I would like to see, which includes Alaska, Antarctica, Iceland, the Norwegian fjords and Churchill, Manitoba to have a close encounter with the polar bears. Quite obviously I prefer travels to cooler climates, but I go back to Italy every few years during the summer months because I also love to swim in quiet waters not infested by sharks and re-visit my lifetime friends there.
Considering that some day in the future I may return to live in Italy, I am not searching for a romantic relationship, but I would like to acquire friends in my area with interests similar to mine and enjoy their company when I go to the Kennedy Center, other concert halls and the Smithsonians, and maybe some ballroom dancing. 
However, if someone turns out to be my perfect match, he could make me change my mind about returning to Italy permanently .....
