Seeking Someone Special
I'm new to Victoria and to Vancouver Island. I've been dreaming about moving here for quite some time. Finally made it  . Looking for someone to explore this city and island with. I'm interested in friendship first, and then see where it goes from there. Ultimately seeking to find a special woman who has the whole package, spiritually, mentally, and physically. I should tell you that I've been sober for 20+ years. I'm not into women who drink to excess, and can't handle themselves. I don't mind anyone who drinks socially. I live my life by a moral compass which guides me, and the person I'm going to be with needs to have the same values.
I'm a good communicator, a good listener, honest, intelligent, and trustworthy. I also have an adventurous spirit. Seeking someone who has most of these attributes. In addition to working in the customer service sector, I am also a writer and a published author. Writing poetry has become important as well. I'd be happy to share some with you. I'm also creative and passionate. Love to laugh and have fun.
I know that I have some extra pounds on me and I don't know how important that might be to you, but I don't like it and I'm doing something about it. I've been told that I look younger than my 44 years.

A Perfect Life
An inquisitive friend once asked me,
A busy bee.
What would a perfect life,
Look like to thee?
As I began to ponder,
A perfect life.
Visions appeared yonder,
An existence with little strife.
A warm summer's day lingering on,
A cool autumn breeze stirring up the red dawn.
Spring's rebirth and renewal,
White glistening snow shimmering like a jewel.
No overpopulation, no suffering babies,
Controlling borders slashed, down with doubtful maybes.
No animal cruelty, no harm to our environment,
All insatiable wants vanish, relinquish judgement.
Recognizing God's constant reassuring presence,
His all encompassing essence.
Self awareness, self love,
As pure as an innocent, transparent dove.
No racism, no child slavery,
Pollution cleansed, where's the bravery?
No material idols, no pretentious acts,
All threats of violence vanquished, more than just the facts.
Strolling the endless beach together with her loving hand in mine,
The warmth and depth of her gorgeous eyes like sunshine.
Her beautiful smile penetrating into my being,
Creating magic with her is completely freeing.
No drought or flood, no hurricane,
Death and destruction in the name of God, insane!
No child soldiers, no terrorism,
All shadows of demons casted out, rid the schism.
Delectable food, family and friends,
Here's to hoping that it never ends.
To be a whole, strong, loving man,
A part of his unfathomable plan.
No dire hunger, no shattering pain,
War obsolete, evil down the drain.
No incurable diseases, no terrifying fear,
All addictions gone, loneliness disappear.
Echoes of laughter and joy from my children into eternity,
All of mankind, my brothers and sisters, free, free, free.
Experiencing love in all of its many splendid forms,
Today, everyday, these would be the norms.
