To think of one of the things we should be most thankful for, not just now, but all the time.
The freedoms we have in this country are not equaled any where. Many have sacrificed, some with their lives so that we can enjoy this freedom and say what ever we want.
as for me,
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all

Well Jd I'm glad I came home alive many years ago during a turbulent time in USA's period which there was much protest. That as a country we are overcoming an epic recession and may the current president lead us in a path of peace. Semper Fi

I see you are referred to as JD. What a nice tribute to our men and woman who have served and protected our country. Who are serving our country as we speak..so many people take it for granted. I salute all of them. God Bless! Thank you!

Wow, jdw, what a nice blog. Hearing the "Pledge of Allegiance" and the "Star Spangled Banner" always brings tears to my eyes. Our flag at work is getting a little tattered and worn, and it always makes me think of the line,"gave proof through the night that our flag was still there'. Always there for those of us who are lucky enough to enjoy such freedoms through the sacrifices of many.

Jdw. You express yourself well. You use your freedom of speech to reach out and at times you are funny, other times serious, and others, you just respond to what is going on. That is what your blog today is all about. We do still have one of the greatesg gifts in any country and that is our freedom of speech. You did well and it your right and pirvilege to delete any negative feedback. We do not need all that negativity in this world today. Have a great day and I am sure you will get a lot of comments.

Yes, taking a moment to reflect on the wonderful country we live in, and the freedom we have compared to other countrys, and the servicemen that have given their lives so we can have that freedom.

My family is full of veterans. None of them died in the service, but they saw a lot of their friends die there. God Bless our troops, God Bless their families, and God Bless America!!!

Jd, the Pledge and the Anthem, give me goose bumps and bring tears to my eyes. I the way both make me feel. Thanks for the reminder of how we tend to take things for granted in this country. I appreciate everyone in the military past and present for the job(s) they did/doing. Ever since 9/11 when I see someone in uniform I tell them how much I appreciate them and the job they do. I know they don't hear it enough!

Thank you all for your responses. I for one can not listen to our national anthem or quote the pledge with out feeling just a little overwhelmed. We are so privileged and spoiled and owe so much to so many. Yes we do have problems, but I for one believe that if we as people of a great nation start making smart choices by doing research before we vote, we can in fact recover from most of them!!!!!
