I think in the 70's they were all good in their own ways. Let's not forget the GTO ALSO. It could stand its ground with the three mentioned here. In the 70' s I had a 66 goat, 69 mustang. The later version of the MACH 1 AND MACH 2 looked good also. I had a 72 challenger. Best friend had a Z28 which was hot.

In today's line up they all still hold their own I have bought two challengers in the last two years. Just my preference. I'm a Mopar man I guess. I looked hard at the camaro but I just felt better in the challenger. I really wanted a corvette but that $90.000 price tag was to steep for me.

Let's not forget the roadrunner, the super bee and the charger back in the 70's were hot also
. Mach
2 huh...?

The Mach 1 and 2' versions of the mustang came out in the 70's when the mustang wenlt full size. Their was the regular version then the Mach 1. A couple years later the Mach 2 came out with more options in it. It was a up graded mustang with bigger motor I believe it was the interceptor kit. Lots of luxarys . The Mach 1 an 2 version did not last but a couple of years I only saw the Mach 2 mustang in red , yellow and white colors.

Ah. You're talking about the infamous sticker packages of the 70s and 80s

Gotcha. Come to find out they were rare dealers packages, not offered everywhere by Ford. Not super valuable, but eh, neat enough.

Last factory line up of all 3 cars that I saw the Camaro with the big corvette engine( can get factory) spanked the other two competitors. I've drove all 3. Mustang crabs a lil better from a stop. Hearing lots about 2014 mustangs. But I don't think it's gonna hit the 165mph as quick as the camaro.

Yep, can get it factory for 10k more than the rest of the cars. The GT500s manhandle the ZL1 Camaros with less cost. Hmmm...

165? The rumor mills are saying the SVT's are slated to be capable of 200. And every single comparison I've seen in the last few years where they ran the biggest baddest camaro was always against a GT. And the challengers were SRT's. But never one of the side models like a Yellow Jacket.

Id love to see the test where you got that information. Not disproving it. But I have the feeling it involves a GT rather than a GT500.

He's talking about the new Z/28 Camaro. That thing, sadly, spanks anything from Ford or MOPAR around a real track. It's a good bit quicker than the ZL1.

In a straight line the GT500 is king.

Challenger (new model).. I myself have one. Is not the fastest but it has the space, leg room, can fit 4 adults with no problems or 5(kid), very comfortable, best looking than a camaro or mustang, and and with v8 performance. Camaros and Mustangs are a dime a dozen every has one, there isn't that many challengers.

At 90k+ for the price tag one would hope the z28 would do well. But still didnt answer what they put it up against. The rs would be a monster against a pinto.

As for the challenger. The price, the lack of performance, and the beating they took early on is what hindered them. It took this long to have an answer to chevy and ford. So yeah you wont see many out there. Occasionally i see one above the v6 trim but not often. Around here people like to dress them up like a srt.

It's faster than the Boss 302 and GT500 around any track with turns. The GT500 does, of course, blow it away in a straight line though.

i've always liked the 1966 Mustang. My friend bought a new 1976 Camaro and drove it till 1999 when it just had so many problems she couldn't afford it anymore. She didn't have any trouble selling it to a car collector.

I'm going with mustang, but I'm somewhat biased as an owner lol. Got my '06 GT last Sept. and I love it. Been putting back some cash to have some real fun with it down the 1/4 mile.

Though honestly, I would love to get my hands on one of these later years of Challenger.

Ok this made me laugh. A 302. Not bored. Not stroked. No forced induction. In a full size truck running 9s. Unless youd care to actually spec out your engine i see a guy running his mouth like he has something.

Plymouth Hemi-Cuda. This was a Barracuda with a hemi engine, which had 425 horsepower. This car was quite the behemoth on the road with its hemi engine. It could go from 0 to 60 in 5.6 seconds, which some modern cars can't even match.

And the Hemi engine was a complete pile of shit. Casting problems, leaks, super picky on gas, constant tinkering was needed to keep it running worth a shit. The 440 was a much better street engine and could very easily be built to manhandle a Hemi.

The only cars that cant meet that are front wheel drive sedans and compacts. The modern pony and muscle cars are more than capable. Should look at some of the lists for 60 mph times
