we have all had roommates,,so if you had to have a roommate would you go with male or female
i live by myself,i like it & dont see it changing anytime soon but if i had to have a roommate it would have to be male. i have done the female roomie thing and simply put i cant deal with women on a 24/7 basis. hell i dont wanna live with someone im screwing i damn sure dont wanna live with someone i am not 
truthfully,,women are way to emotional,everything is a blown over the top big deal,i just cant do it,,,she starts with the yabber/yabber/yabber and you think "damn i aint screwing her why the hell do i have to listen to this". so you do the "yup/yup/yup" and nod your head then go back to looking at the tv routine (never do the "no/no i wouldent do that" routine or you will spend the next 15min explaining why) yet she keeps yabbering so finally you just go "damn just shut the f**k up,you know it was quiet around here before you moved in" (do that with a dude and we get it,its no big deal & move on.a hour later he will say "hey man you hungry wanna order a pizza" i say "hell yea lets get a pizza" and everything is forgotten) but first from her is the doe caught in headlights look comes over her face then she gets pissed and marches off in a hissy & 10 min later you hear her in her room on the phone telling whomever will listen to her what a jerk i am cause i diddnt want to listen to her c-o-n-s-t-a-n-t y-a-b-b-e-r.

Ive gotten along well with all of my female roommates. Even in dorm rooms in college. Ive never had a male "roommate" that was just a friend....only a boyfriend or husband. So, Im not sure what thats like.

FEMALE ROOMMATE...
you think to yourself "ya know what self,,she does a lot of the housework around here why dont you do something to help out a little" so you look around & see the dishes,,f**k that ,,so you go get the vacuum and as you are using it you think "hey dusting is easy" so you get done with the vacuuming and go get a dust rag and do that,,then you think hey i can do a load of laundry then you remember the last time and how between the fabric softener the bleach the whites and colors and hot/cold wash that proved to be a total cluster f**k but you think "hell i can do a load of towels what could possibly go wrong there
so she comes in as you are standing there folding towels and says "did a load of towels i see" and you smile and say "yea i did a load of towels and also vacuumed & dusted" all proud of yourself and the first damn thing out of her mouth will be "i see you missed under the table" and you say "yea i know,,the cord just did'nt quite reach" she then gives you the what a bullshit excuse look and says "did you use pledge when you dusted" "no but i did move everything this time instead of dusting around it" "well when you use pledge everything shines better and it protects your furniture" then she looks at the pile of towels you just folded & you see it so you try to head off what you know is coming and say "i know its not how you fold them but i just couldent remember how you did it" and she says "ive shown you twice already,,here its easy" then proceeds to do some 87 point fold that is more confusing than your mom did as she starts complaining now cause you stacked them wrong also then tears up the entire pile of clean & folded towels and starts refolding them,,,THEN SHE SEE'S THE STACK OF DISHES IN THE KITCHEN...& hear it comes "well why diddnt you do the dishes"...by now you are pissed so you respond with something like "well i cant seem to do the laundry/dusting or vacuuming right what the f**k makes you think i can do anything as intricate as the f**king dishes" then she gets mad and stomps off to her room and 10 min. later you hear her on the phone b*tching to whomever will listen to her about how you are such a dumbass you cant even dust right,,,,all because you got up off the couch and tried to help around the house
MALE ROOMATE....
you look around the house and think "this place is turning into a dump i should pick up around here,,you look at the pile of dishes and think "f**k that",,,go get some socks, jeans & towels and put them in the washing machine,,,go get the vacuum,turn the hose around and blow off the tables & tv then turn the hose back around and vacuum everything up,,,go put the laundry in the dryer then go turn espn on,,,a half hour later you are folding clothes and roomie comes in & says "do some laundry today".."yea,,hey i hope you dont mind but i went in your room and grabbed a couple pairs of your pants and threw them in cause i remembered a couple days ago you said you where out of clean pants"..."right the f**k on dude thanx",,,"and i blew off the tables and vacuumed also",,,"damn dude you been busy,,im off work tomorrow ill get the dishes done",,,"sounds good to me,,,hey you wanna get a pizza",,,"hell yea,,when we are done you wanna stop by the bar",,"sounds good to me"

i was raised at an early age to know cooking,being my family runs an italian restaurant.
if you have the skill,then use it to please bothof you.
hell,cleaning doesnt take as long as a nice prepared meal does.

Op in the case that you spoke of with the cleaning I'm more apt to be like the dude in your scenario. It's more likely that I'll be like, "AWESOME!" than annoyed.
I've had a male roommate and several female roommates. I liked living with some of the women. Others I wanted to beat up for their whiny behavior. The guy I liked living with, it was his parade of trashy women I didn't like.
