did i see some luis royo? and boris? i used to collect those trading cards back in teh day when i was like.. 8 years old.. along with hildebrandt and some others.. jim warren was a favorite. mc escher was my favorite artist in high school. i would always come up with drawings that looked inspired by him, but i would never be thinking about escher when i came up with it. i just wanted to draw it.
kind of like this one, i did this in highschool.

my conceptual art class
The object was to create a world.
My world is called Sintellect.
the first piece was to draw a landscape of your world.
This is Mount Sintellect blowing Hellfire out it's nose
it's done in prismacolor pencil
second piece was to draw a character from your world
This is He who sits upon his mountain which underscores the importance for the protection of the dead abolishing prejudice and sneering
it's done in one ebony pencil and a black prismacolor pencil for the character
third piece was to draw an everyday scene from your world.
this is me sitting next to a grave of my grandmother thinking "just because something is important doesn't mean it is looked up to"
my grandmother is upside down coming down from the clouds which says "just because everything is important"
it's a collage done with construction paper and some paper with designs on it
4th piece was supposed to involve some sort of science
it's abraham, isaac, and the angel of time and space, titled the science of prayer
it's done with a few different pencils
5th piece had to be some sort of epic scene in which changes the world
it's a few of the plagues of egypt all in one titled Exodus
it's done with pastels, colored charcoal, and prismacolor pencils
the last piece had to finish up the world
it's a picture of me sneering up into the light
i'm not quite done with it yet, I'm going to finish it later at the beach.. i'm going to fill in the rest of my face eventually.
it's done with watercolor for the background, then sketched on my face, and used stipplism with a pen to fill in my face.
I came up with a quote that i adapted from an old movie to describe my world
In three years, Sintellect was destroyed, and all of it's people devoured.
Three years ago, Sintellect will be saved, and what can't be avoided, will be.

from what little i heard in the new one, it sounds more country..

Jarring it's simple. Art is not made to seek validation or recognition. Recognition from who your friends here? Of course they will say I love it. That is one reason and the other is art is spontaneous not forced, true, not seeking of attention. There are tons of people in this place but i doubt many know artist from artist, and doubt they can tell what's original and what's not. I buy tons of art books and a my cousin's boyfriend took the book, my lightbox and traced. He later showed the art to my cousin saying it was his. Another point is art is creation. Even drawing from reference is not art cause it is not creation, and many people are good at copying not drawing out of their heads. During my first comment i was talking more about poems but you made me extend on why I don't post my work here. Take it as it is, my opinion.
Whatever rocks your boat. I just gave my sincere opinion. I would be pissed if one day someone blocked me from this site, and my art works remained here.
i disagree. in art, the artist first and foremost must seek validation or recognition of his artwork. beyond that, it is irrelevant and an opinion what you think. posting artwork is no different than posting what you have said here

I disagree with you Jarring and I doubt you are reading what I am putting or else you'd address it or follow it. This is a cheap dating site. If it's validation one seeks. Look for it among people that know art and artist from artist. So you also disagree that people take other's works and post them as theirs. The same goes with songs and poems. My way of thinking is am just an artist, not anyone especial just because i got the gift of drawing which is not really a gift, cause as i mentioned before anyone can draw. The gift comes when you can express a feeling through your art, when you can create. Expressing yourself is not just posting artwork, a poem or a song.
i don't necessarily seek validation, but i do like to show off what i have accomplished. what other point is there than to show it? all of my art work means something to me very deeply, especially my most recent. i've never cared too much about stuff like that... that is from when i had artwork stolen from me in highschool. /shrug as if my stuff will not continue to get better. that's their problem not mine. it doesn't change who i am, and that doesn't make them me. do you think they can reproduce it? if anything, it's flattering, yet sad that they resort to that sort of thing. and expressing yourself comes in many forms, and for you to try and disprove a certain way of expression seems a little ambiguous.
