I am a 47 year old woman and I have been out of the dating sceene for a while. I don't really drink and I am not looking to go out and meet someone under the influence, so going to bars is not the kind of place I think you should go to meet a singles. I live in Central New Jersey. Any suggestions?

Sweet heart, I don't drink much either but, let me tell you this, I'll go to a club, to dance in a heart beat, let him drink all he wants , then call cab, and leave him there....been there done that....And will write the book later....LOL
there is so much to do in all cities, get out you local entertainment book and fine something to do..... good luck, and peace be with you.....Always.....Shine

I started going to a local club here that I felt comfortable going into alone and found a wonderful couple of women..I love dancing but Im not much of a drinker..Im very outgoing so it wasnt hard going up to men and asking them to dance..It was great fun and I dont think I had to sit one dance out. Be brave honey...you have to start with yourself..Now 7 years later I still go and sit with my friends and dance with all the other friends I made. I wasnt looking for dates..just some plain fun.

You are right, there is nothing wrong with meeting someone at a club, but at this stage in my life, I was just wondering if anyone new of other places. Call me inexperienced, but I do know that sitting on the computer has not helped me find somewhere to go on the weekends. Thanks for the suggestion........Sincerity

You know. I hate the bar scene. It's so forced. I much prefer meeting women here. I'm certainly going to be "me" more here than when on my best behavior out in public. now missmatch.. there are lots of us older distinguished men and lovely ladies here. i'm thinking of putting on my preacher's tie, load my tent up and start a crusade for singles in every little town. We'll call'm 'tent meetings'. I'll pass the collection plate to pay for my little operation, and as long as no one tells uncle sam.. we'll get along right nicely. I know this sounds "logical" but it hadn't occured to me til someone said it to me. Go where your interests are. If you like to read, go to the Barnes & Noble coffee shop and read. If you like gardening, join a garden club. Maybe an art show, craft shows, flea markets... Here, there's a place to go feed the fish - nice calm quiet place but public. Local fairs, festivals, etc. are a great place to see a lot of people, especially seeing how someone might interact with their child. Around here there's a festival for everything - the cherry festival, the apple festival, even a pumpkin-smashing festival after halloween (they put them on a catapult, way cool).

You have the same dilemma as I do. I drink very little, a glass of wine or two is enough for me. I'm a terrible fast dancer, but I do like to slow dance. So the bar scene is not for me. I think if you go out to a bar, you will meet the bar-type person, who likes to hang around a drink. So if you really don't want that type of guy, then don't frequent those places. I have met a few gals online that don't like bars, and went out on dates with them, though nothing came of it. Keep the faith. Friends, co-workers, and family might know someone who has the same lifestyle as you. Try other free dating sites... [blocked site].com is a good one. Singlesnet is semi-free (its free to post a profile, and paying members can contact non-paying members and vice- versa, though non-paying members cannot contact each other). Even Myspace.com may have singles in your area and you can contact them for free.. Good luck in your search .
