Am I being rude by not responding? The same guys send me two or three winks. If I send a wink and I don't get winked back, I'm not going to do it again. I'm just curious. I hardly ever wink. I'd rather email and say hi.

You're not alone. This woman kept sending me winks, I had to email her twice to tell her to stop. I could have easily blocked her, but opted for an email discussion, and I never heard from her again. I find it annoying.

I don't wink to anyone unless they are a friend . And that's just to let them know I'm thinking of them and a sort of casual hello . I also don't respond to winks unless they're from friends . Again for the same reasons .

On another site (where I would need to pay to be able to actually read my messages) several frequent fliers have sent me 10-20 messages each over the past several months. They are all gathering dust in the in-box.

I think I'm going to stop responding to winks myself....I use to think that it was rude not to respond...but after being on this site for a couple of weeks I've found that winks are nothing that should be taken to seriously.

Sometimes it maybe easier to gauge a person's feeling with a wink and then email. No man wants to spend 10 minutes writing someone and the person decides they are not worth replying to.

Hi George... I have to admit...I've done this too! I really prefer that a guy sends the first message (although I often will be the first to make contact if I'm really interested). If I'm in an ornery mood...I'll play "wink tag".  But...guys don't seem to like that very much and will stop winking after a few winks. Go figure...guess they don't want to play.
What I think is odd...they wink at me....I send an email message...and they keep winking. What's up with that?  I think there's a lot of guys out there that do "mass winking" and they forget who they've winked at. Gee...I've had guys forget that they've already emailed back and forth with me and we decided not to continue.

Because they just have to press one key and snap their fingers and voila! the belly dancing genie will come out of her bottle. sending an email is too time consuming, and requires a lot of mind work.

You are not being rude by not responding. I lamost never wink, except to a few friends or to joke with the guys. I ALWAYS send an e-mail when I get a wink from a lady to say thanks. I have a few female friends who wink me to let me know they are on-line (since they can hide that too now) and I will wink them back sometimes.
I like your approach of e-mailing. That's what I do if I want to make contact with someone.
I also like what Daddy Duck said . . . maybe he's proud of his winkie. Too funny!!!

I think winks are like tokens of appreciation of beauty.
It is like saying, "Hello." Even if one is not interested
in the person, it is still nice to be kind and give
the gentleman an acknowledgement or a simple thank you.

One woman did that to me. And i just winked at her the first time even though i was not interested but i was being nice by responding
Got a second wink. This si a site that anyone can send an e mail. So i asked why send a second wink.
She said something like that i never sent an e mail to her first wink
Why should i?
If you are too lazy to send a simple hello instead of punching a button, you are lucky to even get some type of respnse from me.
Winks should be eleiminated.

They probably scout through the profiles and either forget who they have already winked to or assume that perhaps you had "forgotten" to respond to their interest.
In my opinion, if a person can't make the effort to email and target an interesting profile (as opposed to winking), then perhaps you are not all that interested in the profile and just throwing out a net to see what you catch
