Today marks 1 year since I've seen my Soldierboi since he got deployed to Baghdad.
I remember when we first started dating and I wouldn't want to watch his skateboard competitions because I was terrified thinking he was gonna kill himself doing all those flips. Now I would give anything to watch him skateboard than to be in the front lines of this war. It took forever to realize that not every sound of skateboard wheels rolling down the sidewalk was him. I'd get chills every time I saw or heard one. He went from Sk8rMunky to Soldierboi, and he missed his Sk8rMunky side. So, his last package included, yup his skateboard like he wanted. Trust me if anyone can find a place to skate in the middle of war it's him. He'll skateboard off a camel he doesn't care.
It's still a few more months until he gets home on leave, and I have took it upon myself to learn how to skateboard myself before he gets here. So when he goes back to the war zone, skateboards will no longer haunt me; Instead, they'll be a reminder of the good times we got to spend while he came home on leave.
Whatchas think? Is it worth busting my ass on the sidewalk for?
Seriously, I really suck though. Any pointers?
I feel sorry for my skateboard.

that is so sweet.......my brothers were great skateboarders when I was a kid.... I know personally you have to have good balance...practice makes perfect...you can do anything you put your mind to..

I was just sharing my story. They're rhetorical questions unless of course you actually KNOW how to skateboard then you can write/email me some pointers, like the previous post, because I DO really suck. Safety tips and well-wishes are always welcome too. Other than that. Just venting.

regardless of what the interest, your attempting to play in his yard with the skateboards shows you willingness to share some of the things he cares for. hope he returns the favor by showing interest in some of the things you enjoy doing. Hello my beautiful people. Well, I'm still trying to keep my behind from hitting the sidewalk. Knight had made a good point on how my Soldierboi should try to share some of MY interests too, and that is exactly what he did...
The other day my Soldierboi and I were chatting and something came up so he had to head out on a mission. When he got back and saw that I had gotten off line for a sec, he sat there and waited. Exhausted, hungry, sleepy, and sweaty from the 120 degree heat in Baghdad that day... he sat there and not only waited for me... he took a stab at my world and wrote a song for me. I'm not going to post the song on here because it's kinda personal, but it was soooooo sweet! Even though his songwriting skills were almost as bad as my skateboarding skills, the fact that he took the time to do that means the world to me. I can't wait to surprise him with my skateboarding. Even if I still suck, I know he'll appreciate my effort.
I'm never gonna try to jump the grand canyon by the way, but I do need a better helmet, elbow and knee pads. I'm busting my ass...
...but I'll just see them as love scars
