I am an attractive woman and have been told by both men and woman. So why is it so hard to find a good man to have a relationship, or to be able to hand out with the other sex without everyone spreading nasty rumors?

Maybe the reason why they are spreading nasty rumors is because they are jealous of you and you hang out buddies or it is to make them selves feel better.
Just like when bullies pick on small children, it makes them feel tough...maybe that is how they are thinking.
But, there is nothing to worry about if you know in your heart the rumors are lies.

It makes some people feel better about themselves, when they talk about others, and alot of people are judged by the company they keep, because they look at it like: Well if that person isn't like that, or do that kind of thing, why would they hang out with that/those person/people who do...

I don't know what kind of friends, neighbors, or what kind of community you live in, but it doesn't sound like they are very nice people, if in fact, they are spreading rumors like you claim they are. The whole thing sounds a little odd to me.
If you were having prior trouble with someone, I could understand why they might do something nasty or vengeful, like spreading rumors about you. I don't condone that type of behavior, but I would at least be able to point my finger and say, most likely that is their motive in behaving that way. Other than that, I simply can't fathom why people would do that to you.

Interesting thing about rumors is that they mostly have a grain of truth about them. I mean why else would other people listen to them? I mean if you tell someone a rumor about the town beggar that he is very rich most would call you silly and dismiss your rumor. But if you spread a rumor about a woman who dresses sleazy that she is the town wh*re some might believe it. So if there are indeed “rumors” concerning your behavior one might want to take a second and honest look at them?
