Just a proud father moment! My son is a sophomore playing Varsity baseball. As it stands with 20 innings pitched on the season he's had 4 game saves, 2 wins, 1 loss, given up 8 hits, total of 4 earned runs, 12 base on balls with 26 strikeouts for an ERA of 1.37! I know it's not politics so if it bothers you I could careless!

I don't follow the ball game sport but definitely understand kids making us proud.

Congrats

He's actually been used as a starter, middle relief, and closer. Last night he pitched a complete game with 1 hit and one ER.

He's a lefty and has a sick curve. It's not a slow looping curve you see most kids throw. When it bites it bites hard. He throws of course 4 seam, two seam, change-up, slider, knuckle curve and 12-6. He has no variance in arm speed on his off speed which makes it very deceptive. His FB hits right now as Sophomore 85-86 with change-up hitting 75

ha , that was my next question is he a rightie or a leftie.

Still, I hope he stays with it , because as you know lefties are in demand, I wished I kept it up 25 years ago, but I had only one pitch a split finger, that's about it.

Having said that he has a pretty stingy ERA, what does he prefer starting or relieving ?

Oh I know what your saying! I pitched through school and I threw hard, low-mid 90s and had a decent curve and slider but nothing like my son is throwing. I didn't stick with it, girls, make the arm weak and the bat cold!

He loves starting and having the chance to dictate the game.

Friend of mine used to umpire the cape cod baseball league , talk about watching some young talent he was amazed at how "intense" the parents would get when the pro scouts were in the stands

He called out a kid on strikes and needed a police escort to his car after the game because the dad was "extremely upset" about that call

Parents can get irate and take it much harder than the kiddos! But everyone from little league to pros, make errors and strike out! Yes, umps make horrible calls too. Lol
