But I guess it died like so many other worthwhile things on these forums...

I have been watching the Convention of States Project from the beginning. IT IS going to happen unless the feds dump the constitution..

Hello Mr. Principle!
I guess I won't feel just right until I tell you that a year's worth of history has proven you to be exactly right...on many issues...
You may want to consider going after DENIAL first!
Quite a bit of mine of my own has vanished in the interim...

I am really curious what you think will become of it?
there are really two possible outcomes...
it simply fails to do anything....
or it destroys our federal government...
neither sound like a productive outcome...
I am not being mean...I am really curious...what do you really think the best case scenario is? what can be accomplished with a convention of states, and why will anything be any different afterwards?

The Jefferson Statement
The Constitution’s Framers foresaw a day when the federal government would exceed and abuse its enumerated powers, thus placing our liberty at risk. George Mason was instrumental in fashioning a mechanism by which "we the people" could defend our freedom—the ultimate check on federal power contained in Article V of the Constitution.
Article V provides the states with the opportunity to propose constitutional amendments through a process called a Convention of States. This process is controlled by the states from beginning to end on all substantive matters.
A Convention of States is convened when 34 state legislatures pass resolutions (applications) on an agreed topic or set of topics. The Convention is limited to considering amendments on these specified topics.
While some have expressed fears that a Convention of States might be misused or improperly controlled by Congress, it is our considered judgment that the checks and balances in the Constitution are more than sufficient to ensure the integrity of the process.
The Convention of States mechanism is safe, and it is the only constitutionally effective means available to do what is so essential for our nation—restoring robust federalism with genuine checks on the power of the federal government.
We share the Founders’ conviction that proper decision-making structures are essential to preserve liberty. We believe that the problems facing our nation require several structural limitations on the exercise of federal power. While fiscal restraints are essential, we believe the most effective course is to pursue reasonable limitations, fully in line with the vision of our Founders, on the federal government.
Accordingly, I endorse the Convention of States Project, which calls for an Article V Convention for "the sole purpose of proposing amendments that impose fiscal restraints on the federal government, limit the power and jurisdiction of the federal government, and limit the terms of office for its officials and for members of Congress."

You didn't mention the third possibility of the states telling the federal government to f**k off, get back to the constitutionality of your business and we will do our business.
Since this is historical, hard to determine what will happen.
But off topic for this thread, if you asked in my thread I apologize. I usually abandon my threads when it becomes a free for all. There is no more moderators on DH so it is a futile attempt at best.

ONLY I see telling the federal government to f**k off as my option 2 destroying the federal government...and as a whole that will be bad for the citizens of this country regardless of which state you live in...
I agree with the concept...but it is a long way from having the momentum needed to succeed...and we will likely see a huge collapse before it ever goes anywhere...

My experience on DH, for better or worse, is that "defending a position, any position" is the literal equivalent of sticking your finger up your a** and hollerin' snake...
It is IMPOSSIBLE to sway those living elbow deep in denial, even if swaying them is in their own best interests...

I do not disagree but you either defend it or keep it to yourself...bringing it up opens it to debate...adn if when questioned if your best response it to change the subject, then you must not have much faith in the position...or perhaps they were never his positions to begin with...he just used them to try and get a rise...

I have tried like the d*ckens to find avenues to attack his arguments...and have failed woefully on many occasions!
Why?
Well because you can't argue, debate, attack or defend doing the right thing. But it is possible to attack your own set of beliefs (also known as misconceptions) about the world and go from there...

Well, he has a problem with causality, and tends to use false generalisations in creating an hypothesis. He is very driven by emotion and prejudice and this seeps into his development of a rational hypothesis by influencing his perception of causation.
Basically, he reminds me of a first year philosophy student who says much without fully comprehending the ramifications of what is being said.

Darth, he doesn't 'challenge' me on 9/11 at all. He has limited knowledge of the subject and is motivated purely by prejudice, not reason. My interest as a member of the International Skeptics, is to expose lies and scams wherever they appear, and as a result, I became interested in the growth of 9/11 conspiracy theories about 10 years ago, and have studied the subject ever since. NA has all the Conspiracy Theorist rhetoric regarding 9/11 down rote, without a deeper understanding of the subject.

I agree Class5 is intelligent and speaks well...
however a conspiracy is not something that can really be proven...simply put if you could prove it then it would no longer be a conspiracy theory...
with 9/11 I do not get on board with the conspiracy theories...that said many things about that day and the way the buildings dropped do not really jive with the "OFFICIAL STORY"...that does not mean our government was behind it...it certainly does not mean there were no planes involved...lol
It just means from my vantage point with what I do know...someone is not telling us everything...

Oh my NA, trying for the knock out blow are you?
I've debated with you in the past on the anarchy thing and personally I found it a waste of time because you couldn't answer simple questions, I've asked you to research the anarchist community in mexico and you've said nothing which means you haven't seen it or is interested in it.
I get it that you're a fan of Larken Rose, I've seen the video and links you've provided including Moleneaux (I'm not sure if I spelled his name correctly) personally I'm not impress with Stephan he flip flops and I really lost respect after seeing his interview with Chomsky , but lets not go there.
I understand your Non aggression principle, Objectivist talk about it , raves about it and I know a few people who are really into that.
You may block me for not providing any value either but I say what's on my mind and I'm open minded and will listen and research something to death so I can understand it but you've failed in the past to answer my basic questions , now you did say that you didn't know the answer so I left it at that.

My interest as a member of the International Skeptics, is to expose lies and scams wherever they appear, and as a result, I became interested in the growth of 9/11 conspiracy theories about 10 years ago, and have studied the subject ever since. Examining Conspiracy theories is the reason I participate in such forums.
NA has all the Conspiracy Theorist rhetoric regarding 9/11 down rote, without a deeper understanding of the subject.
Btw, I appreciate your earlier comments, and I can say the same for you. You debate in a respectful fashion without any need for any mendacity. Something I can't say about the individual in question.
I just tell it how it is Class.
Like I said earlier I cant participate in that thread because my knowledge of the subject is less than zero, I may read it later to get a flavour but I wont comment , I may learn something there.
I appreciate your comments as well and Like I said earlier you're on the most intelligent posters.
