Many say these two manuscripts of the Bible are the best just because they are the oldest, but are they? Codix Viatinicus leaves out half the Old Testament and includes Shepherd of Hermas and the "gospel" of Barnabus in the New Testament. Hmmm... scratch Sinaiticus. Codex Vatinicus has all the Old Testament but leaves out I and II Timothy, Titus, Philemon, and Revelation. Hmmm...scratch Vatinicus. I gues we'll just have to go by THE translation that has the most approval from the Church--St. Jerome's Latin Vulgate.

The only way we know the Bible IS the Bible is that the authority of the Church says so. So why not go with translations approved by the Church?

These are the oldest and most complete NT manuscripts. End. Period.

That means that in some form every other modern Greek manuscript was copied from these 4 manuscripts.

Add Alexandrius to the list.

These manuscripts are used to correct every single Bible today.

Scratch the Latin Vulgate.

But you don't have enough knowledge to argue manuscripts, ludlow.

If Viatinicus is so complete why does it have only half tge Old Testament? And if Sinaiticus is so complete where are I and II Timothy, Philemon, and Titus? There are parts of the Bible that are missing from the Codex Alexandriaticus as well.

I do not rely on the Codex Vaticanus for it's OT or Apocrypha. The Concordant Literal Version uses all four Koine Greek texts to form a complete NT.

The oldest and most complete Ancient NT text, period.

There are much older OT texts than the Latin Vulgate.

You have no idea what I do.

I have done Biblical research for many years. While you were out drinking and playing I was working, studying, and going to school.

Don't project your own short-comings onto me.

You never even read the Bible. I have read it many times and in different versions.

And I don't use the Assumption plan when I do research. I follow what my teachers have taught me. And I have avoided the corruption of the Catholic church.

Oh yeah, that reminds me. You never did answer. How is the relationship defined between 'sheol' and 'hades'?

The Catholic church is corrupt.

If you are the scholar you say you are you wouldn't say that Constantine founded the Catholic Church, or that the Church Fathers'writings were doctored, or that the early Church didn't believe in Catholic doctrines.

No. You are wrong, as usual.

True scholars seek out information.

But One thing I can tell. You are no scholar.

You haven't read the bible. You haven't studied it.

You have way too much to learn.

I have read and studied the Bible all my life. So have millions of other people in the world, past and present. Only you, A. E. Knoch, and the Jehovah's Witnesses come up with the set of interpretations that you have.

Sorry charlie. I am not buying.

You ignore the Bible. I have seen it. When it goes your way you like to quote from it. But when it doesn't you hide behind your church's "interpretation."

And within the height of it's arrogance, your church tries to change the Bible by deleting the Second Commandment.

CLV Ex 20:4 You shall not make for yourself a carving nor any representation of that in the heavens above or that on the earth beneath, or that in the waters beneath the earth.
5 You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor be made to serve them, for I, Yahweh your Elohim, am a jealous El, visiting the depravity of the fathers on the sons, on the third and on the fourth generation, to those hating Me,

We can't have the Second Commandment cutting into statue sales, can we? $$$

Once again... YOU ARE WRONG!!!!

Below is a list of web sites that promote the idea that there is no "hell" in the Scriptures. Among the ranks is your own "pope."

Jesus did not say, Thou art Knoch, and upon this rock I will build my websites. Jesus said, "Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my Church.

And Jesus, along with the Father and Holy Spirit, commanded the ancient Istaelites to make golden images of angels (see Exodus 25:18-20), so we know that not all images are forbidden, only images of demons and false gods.

But Jesus didn't say, "Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build the Catholic church." As a matter of fact the word "catholic" is missing from the Bible. I guess it didn't exist then.

Yet all those people seem to think there is no "hell" in the Scriptures. Even your "pope" has made a liar out of you. Which proves me right about the story of the Rich man and Lazarus, and you, once again, wrong.

And what have you got against A. E. Knoch? You don't know anything about him. Do you just randomly pick out people to hate?

You are still trying to justify the poor decision of your church to ignore the Scriptures and change the Second Commandment?

CLV Dt 6:3 Hear then, Israel, and observe to obey it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply exceedingly, just as Yahweh Elohim of your fathers promised to give to you a land gushing with milk and honey.

CLV Dt 6:24 Then Yahweh instructed us to obey all these statutes, to fear Yahweh our Elohim for our good all the days so as to keep us alive, as it is this day.

CLV Dt 8:1 All the instruction which I am enjoining on you today you shall observe to obey, that you may live and multiply and enter and tenant the land about which Yahweh had sworn to your fathers.

CLV Dt 11:22 For if you should observe, yea observe all this instruction which I am enjoining on you today, to obey it, to love Yahweh your Elohim, to walk in all His ways and to cling to Him,

Do you have a problem obeying God? Or is it just your church?

I wonder if you realize that just a few posts above is the info on the Time Magazine interview.

CLV Lk 22:19 And, taking bread, giving thanks, He breaks it and gives to them, saying, "Take. This is My body, given for your sakes. This do for a recollection of Me."

I do take Communion. I just don't attach so much importance to it as you do.

Are you the official Communion checker? I didn't see your badge number.

No, for Communion to be Real Communion, the literal Body and Blood of Christ, it must first be consecrated (transubstantiated) by a priest who has been ordained by a bishop with apostolic succession. "Apostolic succession" means that the bishop was consecrated by other bishops, and the bishops before them, going back to the original apostles, the first bishops. Catholic and Eastern Orthodox priests qualify for this, but not Anglican or Episcopal priests, because there was a generation or two there during the time of Cranmer when the Church of England did no ordaining. Later on they resumed the practice of having "bishops" and "priests" but the apostolic succession had been broken. Their so-called priests lack the supernatural power of changing bread and wine into Holy Communion. They are play-acting church, as all Protestants and other heretics do, and their worship does not please God.

You ignore the Scriptures... again.

CLV Lk 22:19 And, taking bread, giving thanks, He breaks it and gives to them, saying, "Take. This is My body, given for your sakes. This do for a recollection of Me."

CLV 1C 11:24 and giving thanks, breaks it and said, "This is My body, broken for your sakes. This do for a recollection of Me."

Jesus and Paul both tell us what Communion is for. It is a symbol, nothing more. Once again you are wrong about this.

But why are you arguing this with me? I am not Catholic. I don't care how you have Communion.

When a Catholic or Eastern Orthodox priest is ordained God gives the new priest two supernatural powers: one, the power to change bread and wine into Jesus' Body and Blood, and two, the power to forgive sins.

Can you verify any of that in the Scriptures?

You like to go off topic alot . And that's fine, especially in your own threads. But it makes it hard to take you seriously when you tell others to stay on topic.

A doctrine does not have to be expressly described in scripture. All it has to do is be taught by the Church and it is binding on the faithful.

Not according to your fellow Catholic deneeze. She says it is only in the Bible three times.

But there is NO mention of the word "catholic" anywhere in the Bible. None. Nada. Zip.

So that proves that you are just interpreting the Scripture yourself.

In other words, you are putting your own spin on the bible.
