as a single father of a girl i try to keep my dating habits away from her so i do not have company at my house or let women know where i live..it has not been good..women dont believe im a single father they think i have somthing to hide like a wife or live in girlfriend..just tring to bring her up rite and not expose her to women that mite not be around for long

That is unfortunate, Mud, as you are doing absolutely the right thing. Children should not be involved in a parent's dating until the relationship is well established. Too many children see people come and go, and it affects some of those children to not wish to bond with people, which then may affect their adult relationships negatively.
I hope you find someone who understands this.

I understand exactly what you mean. I have two children and I don't have men around my children, not ready for the to be exposed to me bringing men around who do not plan to stick around. not to mention any bad habits they may have or them thinking my house is a hotel. how old is your daughter.

thankyou..so many people are used to being lied to that they have there guard up. it like if your a guy and you live by yourself women expect you to invite them over to your place because most men will do that but if you dont,here comes all the questions and funny looks

I do exactly the same thing. One of my kids gets angry when I date and the other is ready for me to get married. (not happening) So, I figure it's best to just keep them out of it, at least until I know someone is going to stick around for a long time. Rest assured that you are doing the right thing. The sign of an awesome parent.

i TOTALLY agree with you. i actually love  that about a guy. that shows alot of respect and always remember that what you do and she sees, she may do the same thing. your doing good though, because you cant tell her how to respect herself if you don't. GREAT DAD!!!!!

Well that really isn’t always correct in fact both women that I have dated didn’t get invited over to my house until I was sure about her. In fact one woman had a policy that she didn’t go to a man’s home until she felt comfortable doing so and wouldn’t allow them to come to her house for the same reason.
Both my children are in their teens years and are mature enough to handle when I do invite a new friend over for a meal or just to chat. Like me they love meeting new people.
Also, I am not sure if you are referring to prospective dates on this site or in the general public? If you are referring to this site then a picture would help in reducing a prospective dating partner concern about you insomuch that you have less to hide. Remember they don’t know what you look like so they are taking a chance with that. Whenever I get a email from someone that doesn’t have a picture I often wonder why?

I have found that several times a person with no picture is married or in a relationship and don't want to be too "public" about it. Yes, they actually come clean with that...go figure.

I have made the mistake of letting my son meet some men I have dated and it wasnt good because he didnt nderstand why they didntstick around-then he got wrong idea about me-he is 16 now and is very opinionated.Now he wants to meet them so he can tell me whether he likes them or not and take up for me.It has been a toss up but Ive been divorced from his daddy and single for 13 years.But I respect your decision because the attachment as well as someone replacing 'mommy'/'daddy' is definately always an issue with children. Keep up the good work--she will respect you and herself.

How true how true. I am a single mom and have not dated for just that reason. I do not want ot confuse my children. Their father is not in their life, by his choice, and they already have question about. They do not need to have a male figure in the life then find out that Mommy and him dont get along and he isn't coming back. They are exposed to enough from school, news and anything else that comes up they dont need to worry about my dating habits. If you are dating casauly they ready do not need to know all you business. When you fall in love she should trust you enough to beleive you. Keep trying there is a women out there for you.

I had the same problem, never found the answer but my daughters are now both married and liveing lives that I am very proud of And I still do not bring any new dates home.

Well I thought that maybe I was the only one who didn't just let any women around my child, but I am glad to find out I am not the only one. I made the mistake of getting involved with women recently, and when things didn't work out between us, it really sucked to see my six year cry, and how hurt he was about it. It definetly makes it more difficult to date, and get involved with someone.
