Hi folks. I'm Dave from CA, now in OKC. Here's a bit about me:
I was born and raised in east Los Angeles, CA. I married at 18 and had 3 children. I majored in history into my 3rd year. Then had a change in direction and went to work for L.A. County DPSS, or welfare office as an eligibility worker in 1970. In '74, I transferred to the probation department, and worked in a juvenile hall as a group supervisor. I always wanted my own business, so in 1980 I bought a 7-Eleven store. Sold it in '89 and retired to Bodfish, CA which is in the Kern River Valley in the mountains east of Bakersfield. Divorced in '97. Sold that home in February '06 at the top of the market, and moved to Bakersfield. It's too overcrowded there, and all over the state, so I moved to OKC where I have a good friend, Linda. I have a room in her home for now. I want to buy around 5 or ten acres or more somewhere not too far from a town and build a new home. I'd like to have a vegetable garden, chickens, and maybe a goat or two.
I'm a bibliophile, and I collect movies on DVDs. I'm a fan of Turner Classic Movies, and of course the history channel. I like all kinds of music from classic (Beethoven, Pavarotti,) to old R&B, to Big Bands, to easy rock, easy listening. I like Karen Carpenter, The Eagles, Glenn Miller, Roger Miller, Nat King Cole, and I could fill pages here of favorites. I even like Hank Williams Sr, and Roy Acuff. Got 'em both on records.
I donate to the homeless shelter. I love and respect animals and they can sense it. I could never hunt or fish except for food if we needed it. I can raise chickens for fried chicken though, and for the eggs. I'd like them to be free ranging in the wild grass somewhere in Oklahoma. That's my dream. I'm working on it.
I'm in excellent health. Have a physical every year. Pass with all As. Almost. Blood pressure has been creeping up, but still in the normal range. I treat it with an herbal diuretic. I recently had an echo EKG. The doctor smiled when he looked at it. "I wish all my patients were as healthy as you," he said. Made my day. I keep photo copies of my lab reports in a binder, you're free to browse them. I'm an "open" person.
Some of my favorite books are: On religion, Life After Life. On health, Life Extension by Durk Pearson and Sandy Shawe. Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, and The Save Your Life Diet by David Ruben, M.D. The latter is on the importance of fiber. Other important books are The K Wave by David Knox Barker, and Conquer the Crash by Robert Prechter. I'm convinced we are rapidly heading into the biggest, deepest economic depression ever. Bigger than the 1930s, and I can explain why I believe that.
