I agree it sucks we have to bail out these jackasses. The economy is screwed because executives are taking ridiculous sums of money while giving the working people less and less.
However if the government doesn't bail out the Fannies and Freddies, and the economy goes kaput as you put it,and EVERYONE's out of a job, not just you.
And in that case it's not the executives that are screwed, it's us!

what they need to do is bail out the american people! give us each 425,000 dollars and pay the government 30% in tax on it and we all still would have about 340,000 dollars each. all americans would be sitting good and well off and the government would get all that tax money in return. no problem! ya right! bail out the crooks instead! they should just line them up and shoot them, if they cant do that at least put them all in jail! its the rich that are ruining this country! and lets not forget all the illegals that need to be shipped outa here! its time we make these people that got voted in to start looking out for us! but then again they all got money, so we dont mean squat to them! but then it wont matter when obama gets elected, we will be under the control of one of our enemys that hates us! cause when they come and obama just will talk to them. they will just smoke him where he stands! they all know that he dont really care about america! ( i feel better now!) thanks for letin me vent!

A government bailout of the housing market is both fiscally and morally irresponsible; it is an unfair subsidy being paid to the wealthy (bankers), the greedy (mortgage brokers, flippers, and yes some homeowners), and the incautious (some homeowners), with little or no benefit to those paying the bill (taxpayers).

So should we just let our economy go and have another depression? So what caused all of this? People that borrowed more than they could afford to pay back? Buying houses they couldn't afford to live in? There is a lions share of guilt for everyone. From the homeowner/flipper all the way up to the top. It took WWII to get us out of the depression. What will it take this time???

How about we just strip the CEO's & the Board of directors of these various financial institutions of their shares and sell them off and use the money to bail out the respective corporations. There's more than enough money there and maybe after that some of these major institutions that think the top dogs can get rich screwing the little guys will think twice and maybe try to earn an honest buck.

I am not for a depression at all. That is the last thing we need to deal with. But there are CEO's and Presidents of major corps that are getting paid huge amounts of money to oversee their companies and they can't even do that properly. Come on, if that was one of us as a manager of a store or company run by them we would have lost our job a long time ago. Why are we supposed to bail out banks, martgage companies and the like. Banks and mortgage companies work hand in hand, making it easier to get loans that they know that person can't afford according to the terms that they are asking, but writing and explaining it to those who don't quite understand it and all they a(the buyer) wanted to do is be a normal American and have a home of their own. It had also taken us the war in Iraq to get this far in debt as a nation too. I am all for the troops that have proudly served our country and I am so thankful that they have fought for my freedom, but I don't agree with the war anymore. Why can't we bail out our educational systems and put money into them so that we can teach our children effectively, so that they will be able to do more than just work at a burger joint or a store in the mall. Why don't we bail out our country from illegal immigrants who have ill will and do not want to work and make a life for themselves they way our forefathers intended them to. I work for a living, I dont make a living at working to fraud the government by claming things that are not true to collect more aid. Why don't we do something about the oil companies screwing us over so that the common everday worker has to choose between puting gas in their vehicle to go to work or providing medicine, food and other neccesities that are needed for our families. There are a lot of why don't that I have stated here, but seriously, why don't the bigwigs get a clue and do what is needed? Because they have they million dollar houses, the fancy cars, yachts and vacation homes that they can go to when they need to. They have all that money to fall back on and live a "normal" life if things got tough, even though I don't think that they would know how. I don't see other countries lining up to help us in our time of need like we do for others. We as an American country are still thought to be a desirable place to live, but for how much longer?

So your saying we should just bring our troops to every country and not talk but just bomb the hell out of them like we do to every other country. The first step to agreement is to "talk" so there is nothing wrong in talking to a leader from a different country. I myself would talk too. We need peace not war all that damn time and have peoples sons and daughters being killed on the front lines every month. This war has to end and needs to end now. Iraq needs to take over their own duties and not rely on us. And aparently a "time line" to palin and mccain is a white flag to them. How is that even possible when we already won the fight over there. We are not surrendering when we already beat the hell out of that country and won. It doesnt make sense.
