So I'm deciding between Green and Libertarian Parties as a back up plan. But my problem is that the Libertarians seem too conservative and the Greens seem too, well, far left. Without going into too much detail, I'd like to start a political party. Help me narrow it down a bit. I think it will be a fun social experiment.

How about the "Green Machine" - like investing in Solar, Geothermal, alternative energy so that you are 'industry friendly' but environmentally conservationist.
Make it a policy NOT to help victims of natural disasters (like Bush in New Orleans) and blame it on God's will. The right wing will love you.
Distribute the property to whoever survives and you will have the support of the Communists. Take it away in a couple of years and you will get the Fascist support.
Sell it to big business interests for ten cents on the dollar and you will have the support of the rich.

What you really need is a plan.

d_voted, haven't you heard? The right wing was kicked to the curb during the elections. There's a new game in town. The working stiffs are rising up against the rich elitists. Yesterday, it made national news that a group of laid-off workers began an occupation of the building they worked in. They were not given the 60 days notice required by law, as they only got three days notice. They are saying they won't leave until the company gives them the severence pay they are entitled to - and the company be made to suffer the consequences of breaking the law. America is an on-going social experiment. Going Green is catching on more and more, and we will shortly have an administration that actually believes "We The People" are the government. Hi, Derrick. I like the sound of the No Bull____Party. We would be dedicated to restoring the constitutionally-intended balance between the Legislative, Executive, and Judical Branches of government. The Executive Branch would no longer have a self-annointed "King on a throne". No more "I'm the decider, and I can ignore the other branches of government". Actually, I do believe the Obama administration is going to steer us back to constitutional balance. SmileyCentral.com

Dear Coolchick,

I suspect you are right about Mr. Obama. I don't remember a person with such a devotion to his country and the 'common man' since JFK. He also knows that the common man must become actively engaged in his/her own redemption from the folly of the previous acts of government.

The libertarians have no use for government intervention which allows the weaker members of society to be plundered. The disadvantaged under Mr. Obama must determine their own destiny so they are not systemically made into a class of victims. The victim mentality is a horrible death to the human spirit and counterproductive to ones own self. The government (especially under Obama's plan for educational credits for social activism) is a vital and important intervention that will bear fruit in plenty - and good fruit too.

The Green party - had it some more concrete plans and the support of the industrial machine would blaze a trail (something the American ego has trived upon anyways). Might as well put that ego to use. Again some government direction on that score would be wise.

It might be in the interest of the car companies and the nation as a whole to follow the example of VW from the early sixties. Make the same car for a number of years - parts interchangable - reduce the costs of retooling and shut down time. Lower the costs of the vehicle and make it affordable as well as energy efficient. Production rises on new vehicles and quantities are able to flood the markets of the developing countries.

Who needs a new grill or slight changes to tail lights? It is a car. Want something new and different - dye your hair.

Thanks, d_voted. I enjoy reading your thoughtful posts. Interesting idea you have about car technology. I'm excited about the company that is working on setting up electric car charging stations, and setting up "pre-paid" plans for people to purchase charging time - similar to pre-paid phone plans. They already have contracts with, I think San Diego or San Francisco and one other place. They plan to start out in a limited geographical area - with a long-term vision of having charging stations all across America. I believe that will be a reality within the next 10 years. That would make having an electric car a viable alternative to our polluting gas vehicles.
