Lunch or coffee - something that has some time limits. You can always make plans for another day.

Drinks, if kept in moderation, and preferably at a place other than a dance club. There's nothing worse than trying to have a conversation over the music. For this reason, a lunch or dinner date at a nice restaurant is a good option.

Well my first date with the guy I am hoping to build a relationship was breakfast.
We figured if we clicked as well in person as we did in online and phone conversations that we would spend the day together............we did.
So, don't rule out breakfast if you really think something could be there.

A guy doesn't think it is the first date already if you guys are talking over drinks at a club, does he?

I guess that depends on the parties involved and the situation. I went on a blind date once that actually started at an outdoor concert and ended up with talk over a beer at a karaoke bar. Would that count as a first date?
