Hey OP I used to live in West Hills. This is the second time in as many months that Porter Ranch has gone up. Do ya think these are set fires???? I feel sorry for ya. I know the local news media has it on tv 24/7. The jerks!

My home was fine in Laguna Niguel, but saw the effects at two the water treatment plants where I work. We lost some equipment at each plant (mainly PVC pipe being stored in back of each plant) and hillsides were charred. Our operators had to help with firefighting efforts because the firefighters were stretched too thin.
There was not enough water to go around. Hydrants were dry in Hidden Hills. 108 homes in total were lost and the Yorba Linda Water District is going to be in a mass of litigation. I work for a larger regional water district that collects, conveys, treats and distributes water, selling it to various local water districts. YL is a member agency of MWDOC, I belive, and MWDOC in turn is a member agency of ours.
When I worked at the Diemer Plant on Thursday, the smell of smoke was very strong still. I have seen pictures where it truly looks like a nuclear winter with all the soot. Other pictures look like the plant was surrounded by an inferno - which it was. The only thing that saved it was being at the very TOP hill.
