This one hits home hard. My ex and I lasted just over 4 months apart when she need to stop by my home on her way to a friends house. She was having a bad day and need some attanetion from someone she trusted. We talked most of the night and then she staretd to get frisky, but me being the honest and loyal man I am tried to stand my ground and said "No, we should not do this. You can't handle it right now." It worked until we went to sleep, I only have one bed. She couldn't let it go and after another hour of resisting I gave in. We then proceeded to have sex everytime we say each other which was not but once a month or so. Then we started seeing each other more and the sex got infinatly better and our relationship was better than when we started dating. Now I am alone again fighting to keep my sanity and she has a boyfriend.
Sorry for the long story but in the end some oen will always get hurt. Problem I have is I only have sex with women I love so if we do the "friends with benefits" I am likely to mentally involved again.

It works as long as you have an agreement. When there are too many friends involved in the circle thats not cool! I have never been there but have had friends that have been and they end up with a mess in their pants!!! Literally!

It can work so long as you both keep very open lines of communication
It's in my experience that after spending that much intimate time together one or both sides of the arrangement start to develop feelings
It's at this point that the person developing feelings needs to step up and say something...and beyond that, needs to be willing to step back because they violated their end of the 'no emotions' bargain
Now if they're lucky...the other person is feeling it too and it develops into more
Also...both partners need to understand that because there is no exclusiveness to the relationship the other person may well be getting sex elsewhere and there needs to be honesty, self confidence and a lack of jealousy.
It takes a high level of maturity to do that on either end though and it's in my experience that very few people have these things.

my ex and I still hook up we stayed apart for 5 months we were horrible married but as friends with benefits we are great we went into this knowing we are not getting back together but are best friends as long as you know where you stand and don't let yourself read more into the relationship then is there it can be very fulfilling

Yes if you are both adults and do not ask to many questions. it is very difficult to be intimate with someone on a regular basis and not feel something for them a sense of care / attraction. I can tell you it does not last long once you decide to take on a serious relationship with someone else the other feels left out always offering if you need it or it's not what you thought it was going to be. Being the stand by guy/gal has it's perks but it's still not the same.
FWB fill short term needs.

it has worked in the past with both great and just ok results,,,
SO YES FOR ME !!
as long as its two adults without either party cheating on someone else,,,
i used to travel to north carolinia a few times a year to visit a "SPECIAL FRIEND"
a few times a year,,to spend a weekend together,,
and have had the same locally at times,,its all good,,,
i would of course prefer a full time commited relationship,,
but i am open to all possibilities of life and love
