did you notice that there are quite a few people who join this site, and then they get upset and drop off? i've seen a pattern of that with a couple people, and read it from posts, as well. i think that some expect that they will instantly be flooded with their dream girls, and guys emailing them, and when things don't go exactly as planned, they get frustrated, and bail.

i think that many people can learn valuable lessons here. how to interact with others, listen to different view points, accept, or reject the view points, expand their mental horizons, and ultimately (if they pay attention) can learn more about themselves. so it can be a catalyst for change many can use to improve thier offline relationships.

It caould be a catalyst, if you are persistent, consistent, and play nice with others. You cant expect overnight results from anything in life, but will get results if you dont quit.

*hey weaimtoplease,

sure, making a lot of friends counts. you're interacting with others, hearing different view points, probably expanding your mental horizons, and in the process may be learning new things about yourself, that you didn't know, before you became friends with these people.*

If you learn valuable lessons on DateHookup.dating, then you really need to get out more.

I consider this site fairly unique in that you get a taste of what a pay site should provide for your money. However once you do decide to try out a pay to play site you quickly learn that you really do not get what you pay for and pales in comparison to what this site offers. The forum is a big plus here.

Not really I am sorry to say. But it is good entertainment and if people could actually meet a real profile, then that would be a bonus.

No, I will not. The only thing you can learn here is how the anonymity of the internet emboldens people and the deviancy of human nature. And if you haven't already learned that by this point in your life, then you've missed something.

Everything you listed in your second paragraph are basic skills that should have been learned in grade school and honed by the time you were a young adult. Interacting with others...necessary for survival. Listening to/accepting other view points...necessary unless you don't want any friends. Expanding their mental horizons...reading a billion threads about whether or not Girl X should leave her baby daddy is not expanding your mental horizons.

I realize the intent of your post, but if you are seriously learning any of those things from a free online dating website, then you probably have some kind of severe long-standing social handicap.

I think those who come on this site and run, see how many wankers there are, and that is what deters them, not the less abundant of responses. It can be intimidating at times.

I don't know why, but some people that are genuinely looking for love, feel guilty about having to go on a dating service, I'm really lucky I havent had any bad experiences and the occasional few that bug you, is like water off a ducks back. But everything we do is always a learning curve... Throw a rock in a lake and see what happens.

Like anything else in life, it's what you make of it. But NO, I don't think it will be or can be a catalyst for change in my life. That has already happened for me, long before I even knew that this site existed. As for meeting that special someone on here...while that would be nice, I really don't think so. It's hard enough to make connections face to face. On the internet, while I would hope that people were being themselves, honest and up front, you never really know. I've heard a lot of people say that the person they went to meet, was nothing like the person they "knew" on line.

Happens all the time. People on the internet are able to list all of their good qualities, or simply lie about qualities, while revealing none of the downsides that are only discovered by personal interaction. Then, it's a bigger disappointment than it would normally be when you finally meet, because you've developed an idealized concept of the person that is far from reality.
