I am on the computer all the time with my job, but don't have a lot of time to get on these forums most of the time. I am off for 3 weeks and have been checking out the forums the last couple of days. There seems to be a lot of bashing of the opposite sex from the opposite sex. If you are wanting to find a good person to spend some time, or the rest of your life with, why would you want to meet someone who bashes you off the start? Don't get me wrong, there seem to be a lot of people who are genuinely looking for the right thing too, but it's hard to find them through all the "crap". Is there anyone else who sees any of this??

Avoid the forums as a measure of a persons dateability!

..they may just be goofing off.

I seriously doubt people would go out on a date and enter into a debate type situation with that person. I know I don't. Forums are largely discourse. Dates are not. Dates, for me, anyway, are getting to know someone and to see whether there is an atrraction.

I don't know; getting to know someone is getting to know how they think and feel about certain topics; I mean, I wouldn't out and out fight with a guy on the first date- unless he was a real a** - but I wouldn't shy away from something that might spark a heated conversation because I wanted to be attractive. I am who I am, and if I feel strongly, I say it. If I'm attractive keeping my mouth shut, then he's not seeing me.

I recently went out with a guy and we got into a heated conversation- not yelling or bashing- but it was something upon which we disagreed. It didn't end the date, nor our contact; on the contrary, it gave us each some insight into the other person. JMO

True enough, but it gets very contentious in these forums. We, I would hope, try to find someone with similar views and values when we set out to find a date. The forum folks are just who happens to be there. We can pick our dates but can't pick who is in a forum. We can only choose whether to engage in debate or not.

Yep...save the fireworks for a month or two in..

that's true, inlass, and as I said in another thread, I am probably more daring online than I am in real life; but I wouldn't shy away from something that I felt strongly about, either.

And there are topics that come up when you're dating that really, who cares? What is significant to me might not matter a drop to someone else.
