Christmas at home with the family...New Years in New Orleans, sure to be filled with debauchery and shameful sexual exploits...then on to the Super Dome to watch my Crimson Tide secure a 13-1 season and a Sugar Bowl Victory. Pretty sweet.

This is the first time since I was a teenager that I will not have a special someone in my life during the holidays. It is a big adjustment but luckily I have many friends and family to keep me occupied.

My ex has the kids for Christmas eve and morning, so I will sleep in and enjoy them when they come home around noon. I am doing a turkey dinner for the kids, my sister and I. The kids and I are hopping in the car on the 26th and driving back home to NY where I will see family and friends, and visit my parents' grave before driving back home. Pray for good weather for me!! Maybe I will meet the infamous lefty while I am there
This is my second Christmas with no one special, and that part sucks, but I have so much to be grateful for that I try not to dwell on anything negative. I really love Christmas, so here's hoping this is my last one without someone special!

Well--we have to work the holidays--so the citizens who need help will be our extended family for the day---the people I work with will make it as nice as possible between calls. The local big name hotel will do the annual buffet for the "working on duty" police, fire and EMS people. Some of us will work the shifts that some of the married staff would like to have off. So it may not be very traditional--but it is our very own version of how we do christmas HERE. NOW--pay attention--if you really are looking for a way to spend a few minutes with the biggest bunch of fun people in your town or city--find the firehouse closest to you--stop by and say HELLO and everybody will be glad that you took a few minutes to meet us. If you can't do that--we all wish you a pleasant holiday season--and please be safe. And get on the computer and do some chatting--we will be here like any other day.
