Met this local cop, we had 3 dates all planned by him, all at coffee shops, finally changed my profile on the sight where we met, stating that I refused to go on dates where we drank from styrofoam, he later called and apologized saying it was a cop thing, next date he took me to dinner, okay think I'm reading the question wrong, yes you can meet people at Starbucks, I met a great guy, we were sitting apart and then he came to my table where sat and talked for hours, then he said he had to go cause his fiances parents were coming to town for dinner 
Out of the 4 hours we talked he forgot to mention he was engaged

FOR me.... its something to do. .. and there is 2 older guys i like to shoOt the bull with ...........twice a month...
did talk to one lady many months ago.... we were sitting in one of those soft individual sofa chairs..... it is nice,, when they are honest...an bring up their husband in the conversation.... THAT CLEARS THE AIR FAST....

Starbucks or any coffee shop. It it is a coffee shop sit at the bar next to someone you want to meet or an empty seat and put a jacket on it till someone you want to meet comes in ..lol Use the newspaper to start a conversation if you can't do it on your own.
Books and Borders has a coffee shop too. You can hang out in the section you like.. i.e.
Pets, DIY, or gardening.
I talk to people all the time wherever I go.
