This is the first time this has ever happened and I just had to chuckle!

Most of us play peek-a-boo, drive by peeking, whatever you want to call it. I check out profiles of the young, the old, the wise, and the just plain rude people that I see in the forums.

I was peeking as usual today and got a very polite rejection in return! He said thanks for looking, but we have nothing in common...Duh...That would be why I didn't say Hi when I peeked. (OH and he did wish me a merry christmas)

Is this arrogance or confidence on his part? or should I be acknowledging all the peeks as well as the messages?

arrogance -- Why do we have profiles if people should not look.

ROFL....I'm sorry that's just funny to me.

I check out anyone's profile that may have posted to a topic that
made me want to see what else they may have to say. I like to listen
to people for the most part and looking at your profile is just a way
to try and understand you better.

If I want to ask you out for a date I will....
I won't just lurk around your profile.

I think he was being honest. Why does it have to be arrogance or confidence? Honesty always riles someone..especially when you realize that if he said anything else, he'd be leading you on, like it sounds as if you wanted in the first place.

Arrogance. He shouldn't assume you were interested.

Arrogance. But there is nothing wrong with emailing someone who checked your profile if you liked what you saw and read on their profile, because even in this day and age some people will look but don't have the courage to write. To me a profile is a very small piece of information about them, so forming an opinion, positive or negative on just a profile and some pictures is less than ideal. JMO
