There is this guy ( about 6'7 and weighs prob close to 300 lbs that comes into the diner every morning with his mom who is about my height and 100 lbs soaking wet and probably in her 80s. He is sooooooo gentle with her as he leads her in and sets her at a table. It always makes me smile to watch them

The way I saw two cases of Alzhiemers coped with. The first case was a man took his wife as often as he could to his Elks lodge for lunch who suffered from this horrible disease and treated her as if she were quite normal. The second case is one I ran into as recently as today. An older man that takes his wife to church who is in a very advanced state of this disease. When exchanging the peace I reached over to her, he placed her hand in mine, and thanked me.

When you are laying next to your love and they are asleep and you can see the peaceful slumber they are in and let the love you feel for them flow with out any judgement or response it puts a smile in your heart.
Something that happened to me while being an activities director at an assisted living place I had a client that I worked and worked with for a good 3 months she had alzhimers or dementia so bad like in the 6th stage and there are only 7 of them anyway I worked one on one with her as often as possible with her not ever saying a word then after so long she looked me right in the eye and told me I was a nice person! That melted my heart. As she never spoke to anyone in a complete sentence couldent her mind was gone all the time but there for that split second she made sense. It was worth all the time I had invested in her while others that worked there kept telling me why do you do all that you do with people that don't know a fork from a car. I always said that could be me someday and I would want to be respected and have my mind stimulated.

Kinda like the man on the bench in my blog. To know he could not remember what he did 2 minutes ago or remember his name.. but could fonldy remember and speak of his wife who had died years before. That touched me in such a profound way that I will never forget.

Yes Tru that is dementia and its truely a terrible thing to have and unfortunatly it will only get worse for the man you are speaking of. The nerves are not fireing on the side of the brain they want to fire is the simply way to put it there is no cure and the meds some dr. put the people on are just to slow it down but it does not do the trick really. Its kinda like giving them a placibo for the patient and family both. Glad you witnessed such a sweet thing yes I do beleive these that are noticed are little gifts from God for sure.

It was indeed an experience to have had the opportunity to truly hear what this man had to say. The look of confusion left his face as his memories flew back to that time in his life.. it was, indeed, like watching an entire transformation before me. He reminded me.. in his way.. of how important, precious and fragile our memory is.
With that said, I bid you all a good night and may the Angels watch over you.
G'nite all

When I see a smile on my gr-granddaughter's face, and also her sweet little brother---I feel so blessed to have them in my life.

Also the excitement when my gr-son--Troy sold his car,and got a truck--it needed a ton of work, but he was so excited--and telling me what he was going to do to fix it up.--He is a senior and the nicest boy--I love him so much.

Have a great day and evening------------------------lotsafuninpa.
