that to find the "right person" one must "be the right person". I think that this new year I am going to focus on that. Any thoughts?

Hippie crap.
Statements like that are produced by overly long drug binges.
However, if you are looking for Brad Pitt, you must indeed be Angelina Jolie.
Or at least Jennifer Aniston.

......I love "Hippies" , I work at clubs in my area , and the hippies are the best, nice people , they love life and the environment , I wish the world was covered with "Hippies" , they're always mellow and never a problem...............oh, and I agree you have to be "right" in yourself , before you can actually find that "right" person , otherwise you will be left........

I am an old hippie. If you feel you aren't worth much then that is what you bring into the relationship. How healthy can that be?

Thanks for all of your responses. It's fun to see, not only how people respond to these posts, but also how each one interprets them differently.
It is true, at any rate, that the more one brings into a relationship, the more one will get out of a relationship... good or bad.
Thanks again for your responses and Happy New Year... make 2009 a great one !!!!!!!

A lot to be said with that statement if, to you, the "right person" is honest, caring, faithful, etc... you won't have a prayer if you're a liar, cheat, thief, alchy, etc...

That is probably true to an extent. But you have to be real. You have to be yourself.
I think that possibly a lot of people follow that theory and become what they believe their possible mate will view as the 'right person'. But you can only keep that up for so long if it is not really who you are inside.
Then in time and in becoming comfortable in the relationship you will slip out of that and be yourself.
That is when people tend to hear things such as "I don't even know you anymore." or the good old "You are not the same person I married."
