“Everyone is a house with four rooms, a physical, a mental, an emotional and a spiritual. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room, every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not complete.”
What about you? How’re you living in (and airing) your house?
And, if you were to add more rooms in your house, what would they be and why?

Awsome thread!!..if I added more rooms to my home..I would add peace...and a room for challenges..a room for gifts..such as love..forgivness..a place where I can keep those things that are close to my heart.
I would add peace because I find myself very restless at times...I often forget to go to a place deep inside myself to find some silence...and rest
I would add challenges because I feel they make you a stronger person every day there is a new one..what wont' hurt you will only make you stronger...
I would add a room for gifts....from people who have made an impact in my life..meaning just by watching and learning you can recevie many gifts..and in turn you can have a change in your life...

Mental stimulation (internet, reading) and meeting emotional needs (friends, family, therapy) take up most of my time. Have been letting the spiritual slide a bit. Physical? Well, working out, losing weight, eating better, but no beauty parlor for a while and my place is a dump right now. Can't seem to do it all.
Would add a sound proof room for emotional and physical needs (roommates/neighbors couldn't hear anything), library for more mental needs (I need more books!), my own kitchen for physical needs (sharing sucks), and a conservatory full of plants, windchimes, water for spiritual needs.

I'd put in a cathartic bathroom, hot and cold running apathy, and of course to get to the upstairs bedroom.........

Add a room to sit comfortably and reflect on what you did today--and if you need to change anything. Sit and revel in the happy times and the sad or bad times. Learn to leave that stuff there and be ready for a new day. The past is gone--today is what is important-- And have a laundry room--wash those bad habits and traits off of yourself!!

Hi sinful, I was curious...do you know the history of that proverb? I have heard of Native Americans talking about the 4 directions, east, west, etc.-wondered if there was any correlation? This just piqued my curiousity and wondered if you had any more details about it? Thanks!

Hi Luv,
For that you will have to read the autobiography of an author by the name of Rumer Godden, it's called "A House With Four Rooms" I am not quite sure where you can find it, but if all fails contact the Rumer Godden Literary Trust - Email: [email protected]
Hope that helps

If I don't get a job soon, I may be living in my car. It has four cylinders. Coincidence?
Balance is the key to happier living.
