WHERE I LIVE OF YOU ARE INDIAN UP TTILL 1978 YOU WERE NOT LLOWED TO GATHER IN GROUPS OF MORE THAN 2OR 3 AND IT WAS ILLEGAL TO HOLD SWEAT POW WOW OR CERIMONI OF ANY KIND BUT THINGS ARE SLOWLY CHANGING AND MORE AND MORE BROTHER AND SISTERS ARE COMMING OUT OF HIDING AND AS TO ME AND MY FAMILY I HAVE ALWAYS HAD "THE PRIDE".IT DOSE MY SPIRIT GREAT HEALING TO SEE OTHERS TALK OPENLY WITH OUT FEAR. I don't have any "American Blood" in my veins. My ancestors, who came from England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland didn't arrive in NY until 1617! I would really love the opportunity to learn tho' and I have had a little intro into some of the rituals which I loved. I live in an area with high Cherokee heritage, however, sadly there is not much knowledge of the culture (well not in my present family which has a lot of Cherokee from in-laws. I also think it would be great for me to able to pass on to my grandchildren who actually are decendents of Native Americans.
