The average height for ALL women in the US is 5' 3.7".
So, you are a shade below average, height wise. Technically you are not short.
And at 6'2", I find you the ideal height for me!
With half of the women above that, there are half below that.
Meaning, lots who are 5'0", and DOWN from there.

What is it that draws a shorter man to a taller woman?
I am not, always preferred more petite women myself. At 5' 6" most petite woman "fit" my hieght and build better.
But that's a VERY trivial thing, and not at all a deal breaker. It's a "minor" preference, and not a thing I would dwell on.
My number one thing? Chemistry. The spark that says there is a mental connection of mutual understanding and attraction.

Finally, the buzz died down. Now I can be heard. From here, down in the dust.
I'm 5 foot 4. I am an expert why short guys are attracted to tall women on one hand and taller women on the other.
I am attracted to women. The better looking, the more attracted. Height has nothing to do with the attraction. It's just coincidental that most women I am attracted to are taller than I. It is a reasonable phenomenon when you consider the statistics, namely, that most women are taller than I, so most women who are attractive are also taller than I.
I am also attracted to tall women. I consider them statuesque. A lot of slim woman, that I like.
Not to misconstrue, however, that I don't like short women, be they shorter or taller than I. Yes, I DO like short women, for they are dainty, and can be touched head-to-toe in one shot. One full-body touch, mine to theirs. Great fun.

I have news for you, explained with analytical geometry. While a tall woman with long legs is able to completely encircle your girth, a shorter woman can, too. The difference is that the shorter woman’s shorter legs will have more surface contact with your skin to hers for both of you, than a really long-legged woman. A leggy woman’s leg-length from mid-tight to her knee and back to near her ankles will never touch you, unless your waist is very wide.

I'm 5'11". My first wife was 4'11" and liked "big guys". My second wife was a model for Macy's and was 5'11". When she put on heels, she was an inch or two taller than me and it didn't bother me at all. But,those long legs? MMMMMMMmmmmmmm.
Nothing sexier than a long legged woman.
I know a woman at work who is about 5'5" but has these long sexy legs and I find her very attractive.
I've been with tall women and short women and can't say I really have a preference, but there is something about a woman with long legs that I find extremely sexy.
In the final analysis, though, it doesn't matter how tall or short a woman is if there is a connection there.
As for our 5'3" Philly girl (Maryg2), you're adorable. Your height has nothing to do with it.

Personally, I don't care if a guy is tall but I do like them to be at least a few inches taller than me. I'm 5'5 3/4. Interestingly, any of the men I've met who "claim" to be 5'7" to 5'9" are all either shorter than me or just my height.
All my women friends are self supporting and independent but I think we somehow think of a bigger guy as a protector. Maybe it really does have something to do about the way we're hardwired.
Like everything else about dating, it's a preference.
