At first glance, my question may appear as a futile conundrum. I have thought about this and want to solicit the opinion of the DH audience.

It depends. If you don't count cheating, fighting, money problems, etc and the person you married just isn't satisfying your "soul" it probably wouldn't be as bad as being alone forever. If the match is so horrible though you really shouldn't have married them in the first place.

Most definitely - not marrying the right one.
You can marry the wrong one and figure that out. Then you move on and learn from your mistakes.
But if you never marry that one person that is right for you and you've missed out on that, well, that to me is worse than any relationship mistake.
Edited for spelling - I worked all day and I get home and can't spell anymore.

Impressive from anyone let alone one so young.

To me, not marrying the right one would be worse. Marrying the wrong one can be fixed, divorce lol... Missing the right one when you had the chance isn't as simple.

Marrying the wrong one definitely. You can still have someone special in your life even if you don't marry them.

I think what he means to say is something like... what is worse. Marrying the wrong person and being unhappy or not marrying anyone and being just as unhappy.
I have never been married because I am/have been trying not to find the wrong one. When and if I ever do get married I want to increase the odds of it being a one shot deal. Am I happy about it. Not all the time. But I do think it beats the alternative.

I'll echo the sentiments of firstlight regarding your pragmatic insight at the mere age of 20. I also admire your willingness to express your belief that living a life alone may be a far greater fate than a less than ideal marriage. Most people are not willing to grant any virtue at all in a BTN (better than nothing) relationship. Nice post!

I wanted to wait until a few more forum responses came in but I agree with you and the others who decree that it is far worse not to be with the right one. A bad relationship can be terminated. There is no such remedy that will lead one into that unique someone's good graces again, with the exception of the celestial magic of forgiveness.
No demerits for any misspelling. It is content that counts.
