I've realized a sure-fire way to see if a woman is interested in you. Almost always within the first 15 minutes of conversation, she'll ask:

"So what do you do for a living?"

I experienced this recently...again. This time, I could almost sense the question coming before it was even asked, burning in her mind. I could almost sense her need to know.

"So do you work close by?" she asked. Carefully worded to seem not too intrusive, but conversational. I knew I was being sized up as possible relationship material. Of course, I didn't tell her why I'm not working right now. I didn't bother to try to explain to her that I'm really invested in my music right now and I've got enough finances put away that I don't need to work and I'm comfortable. It's none of her business. And if I do have any extra money to spend outside my monthly bills, I'll be spending it on ME, thank you very much. No, I didn't bother telling her any of that.

I'll see her again. It will be interesting to see how interested in me she still is.

drum, be careful not to delude yourself. Its not always about money.

When I ask someone what they do for work (man or woman) I am sincerely interested as to what kind of work they do. For me it is a conversation piece. I owned a paint an body shop also did architectural wood finishing so I enjoy being able to converse over knowledge of a particular subject.

So as I said be careful to not judge an intention. And although I do agree that women can be a bit manipulative, if you instincts tell you something is not right then trust that it is most likely not but do not predetermine her motive behind such a question.....you might just be wrong.

It is sad that there are woman like that ( gold diggers).( NOT ALL )

But, when I talk to a client male or female I always ask them what they do for a living.. Why ? Because It could
be a Interesting Job. Like: FBI, Forensic science, Veterinarian . Artist.
I Honestly could care less about other peoples money, I only care about mine !

But, It would be nice if the guy had an interseting job. I love to learn.

This is funny because when I ask it is in response to them asking what I do for a living. Some hear I am an accountant and oh boy there goes them bells ringing...goes both ways.

It goes both ways. I am equally disgusted when someone flaunts their money, as I am when scores of women line up to date the same man, just because he has it.

I think this is silly. I ask a man what he does for a living to see what common interests we may have....not to check his possible bank account status. I am in accounting and formally in the restaurant business. If he is associated to either, it gives us somewhere to start from. If he says he is a tattoo artist, circus clown, or a Soviet spy then I would probably have to find some similarities with him somewhere else.

If a 32 year old man said he was unemployed with no explanation of why, I would wonder how much self-worth he had and why he doesn't have the desire to make something of himself. If he explained he was unemployed because he was trying to reach goals, I would find him intriguing and want to know more.

This is hilarious.

Question....

What would YOU talk about in the first 15 minutes with someone you're interested in?

Kids? Two minutes IF more than one kid.

Where do you live? Less than one minute unless there is a commonality found in the answer.

Pets? Two minutes.

Weather? 30 seconds... unless a hurricane or snow storm JUST happened.

I mean.... WTF do you TALK about when meeting someone... ANYONE???

No wonder you guys are single. Seriously. Always looking for the worst in women.

well she knows it now because you just told everyone on this site (unless she is not on here, which you did not make clear)

So when she dumps you it will ALL be because you "don't have a job" won't it? Because that's what you want to believe isn't it? It surely couldn't be because she might not be interested in a musicians lifestyle... or that she's recognized something else she doesn't like in you... ahem. Nope. It'll be because she's a money hungry gold digger because... after all... that makes for a good thread now doesn't it....

Yeah, maybe I'm being a little over-sensitive about this. I just know that as we were chatting, it didn't even occur to me to even ask what she does for a living. Why? I don't really care. Nor do I think finding out what someone does for a living necessary a good way to find out much about a person. The vast majority of people are in jobs that they have to be in, not jobs that they want to be in. So asking what someone does for a living a lot of the time isn't some kind of way to find out what that person is like or what their interests are. And also, I find that people (men and women) who all they can do is talk about their job or their business boring as hell.

If I'm interested in a woman, the first thing I'm curious about is what her interests are, not where she works. And like I said before, most of the time those two things are not one and the same.

binderdundat- I never said I was on a date with her. We were with friends and just chatting. And yeah, I spend my money on ME, not women. That attitude is the reason why I'm able focus on music right now and be a musician, because I haven't blown my money spending it on women.

And yeah, I'm so desperate for attention, I sit around thinking up outrageous threads just so I can get a reaction out of people. Nice going Sherlock. You got me!
