When you are asked about your marital status, do you say you are divorced or single?

Divorced - I think if you say single it means you have never been married.

I say divorced, not that I am proud of it, I am not. However, I also have three children and 5 grandchildren. If I said that I was single then does that mean that I was never married? I believe it does. There are three titles for women, Miss, Ms., and Mrs. My understanding of these titles are: single (as in never married) Miss; married but now divorced or widowed (and this is optional for the widowed), MS., and married, Mrs. Since that is what society dictates, then I have been married for 40 years, had three children, have five grandchildren, am now divorced due to somebody being a stupid sumab*tch who thinks with his d*ck, and am now known as Ms.

The main reason I asked is because.. when it was brought out in the this forum that you have to check " divorced" and not "single" on your profile to be able to post her.. and several had said they checked " single" when they are indeed " divorced.

Depends on how I am asked. If they ask "Are you single???" I say yes. If they ask "Are you divorced???" I say yes. But I do tell them that I have been married twice with the before 5 minutes. I do ask them if they have ever been married.
I don't care for the ones that state on their profile that they are single yet when I ask if they are married they say yes. I have a problem with those and I give them my 2 cents for what it's worth. I see that they are still on here.

People always ask me that question.
I answer them that I'm divorced, and they say ..well is the same as being single.
I say NO WAY! Then they ask.. "what's the difference?"
My reply:
Single is a person with absolutely no marriage experience
Divorced is someone with marriage experience (Experience is the best teacher)
Huge difference IMO, as divorced people, we've been there done that and our next time around will be with experience, stronger and wiser!!

I don't think anyone has the right to ask you to differentiate between the two lables. My reason for this stance is that being a "divorcee" had a loser, slutty lable, probably created by insecure men so that their women wouldn't divorce them. I've heard, men say that if a woman is divorced, she is more likely horney as hell, missing what she once had, henceforth, an easy hit.
I especially don't think employers should differenciate on applications. What would be the difference between a single or a divorced woman or man in the workplace? Not talkin about married, just single or divorced, are you going to attach something dirty, failure or used to one rather than the other, even though single people do all the same things divorced people do. Lables can be bad, avoid when possible. In the dictionary, single means unmarried, it does not mean never married. JMO Channa
