by domestically challenged, pixie means homeless

women cook casseroles......men cook meat...period.....you don't have to get fancy, just get something she likes, and find a good grade of it (ex.- she likes steak, at least get angus if you can't afford kobe......she likes fish, get sashimi grade tuna as opposed to halibut)........make a salad from baby greens, and make it exotic with crumbled goat cheese and/or dried fruit, and add a few vegetables and make her some drinks...easy as pie

Look at you!!!
Wow a superman in the kitchen!
Lucky girl.

Anyway in this economy I've found I've started with trying to see
what meat is on sale first then I rack my brain on what to make.

If you want to have the energy to enjoy the meal with her then stay away
from fried foods. It's so much work and you'll be tired.

Let's think oven...do you want to a light meal that feels refreshing or a
stick to your ribs feel comfort kind of thing?

If you go light think Salmon.
If you want comfort think pot roast.

A great light desert is Angel Cake with fresh strawberries whipped cream.
Comfort...Peach cobbler!

Veggies are best when they are fresh and you either steam them or
lightly roast them.

A beautiful and simple side that I make that always looks elegant is..

Fresh green beans, still whole. Place them on a cookie sheet with
cherry tomato's cut in long halves. Coat them with olive oil and sprinkle
with Romano cheese and roast for 10 mins.

Simple, looks greats, taste to die for!

That sounds great with the beans and tomatoes

I like doing big tomatoes similar-- cut in half and dig out about an inch or so in the middle and drizzle olive oil and spices to your liking, fill with bleu cheese, and drizzle more olive oil on that and bake until blue cheese starts running down the side of the tomatoes (about 7 minutes at 350-- keep an eye out though)......its different and you definitely have to like tomatoes and bleu cheese, which a lot of people may not like one of those two, but its great

Also OP, if you're gonna be drinking, you want it to be a light fare.......fish and asparagus make a great meal, and while its cooking, prepare a fruit plate with grapes, pineapple, canteloupe, kiwi- whatever- and place some flavored cream cheese in the middle for dipping......its an erotic blend...visually stimulating food does something to a woman's mind

coco...what you want baby?

Some people can cook, and some can't. If you are a rookie in the kitchen, stick with simple meals, like chicken or steak on the grill. Throw together some rice and a salad, and you're good to go.

If you do know what you are doing, check out allrecipes.com

That website has some amazing dishes, and many are very simple. You'll just have to read through, and find your comfort level. I've been cooking since high school, and did all the cooking in a long term marriage. You do it enough, you'll get good at it.

Welll, this is a wonderful idea that I'm glad you've discovered, OP! I've found that some men ARE great cooks, for sure! AND, since I enjoy cooking right along beside HIM, it makes for that little EXTRA blend of a variety of receipes which guarantees that you will BOTH like whatever is fixed AND mixes up the romance, quite a bit, also!
GOOD LUCK, OP!

Men who cook are great. And too me it doesn't matter what he cooks for me, cause it's the point that he did and it came from the heart. My ex once cooked me dinner one night that was little pizza's and beans & weenies n some wine. lol I laughed my butt off. We had been working all day and stayed at his house and it was not much to choice from. It was memoriable and it still makes me laugh.

Now I never dated a man that "really" knew how to cook so but just to try to sweet. Now I am a cooker and love to cook and make everything from scratch. But even if you don't know how to cook I enjoy cooking with someone and them just helping out and just having a little fun in the kitchen together.

First I would start the dinner off with a nice bottle of Santa Barbara Pinot Noir. A nice seafood appetizer like raw clams with lemon juice. Meanwhile nice music is in the background. Make sure the table is set just right with the perfect lighting. After awhile of visiting, a small bowl of cold gazpatcho and warm thin bread sticks and warm butter dipping sauce. To drag things out a little longer a small caesar salad on cold crip plates, make sure you have the good cheese to shred at the table, fresh is always best. The main course should include Norwegian fresh salmon lightly grilled in a lite sweet and sour baste along with wild rice and farm fresh asparagus first lightly steamed then lightly sauteed in a little hint of butter and garlic. More wine, more music, more talk. If for some reason your still hungry and light chocolate mouse with a dollop of fresh made whipped cream and simi sweet shavings on top. As the evening was coming to a close and if things were going well, maybe some Irish coffees to end the evening.

I'd start her off with some breaded veal appetizers and a dry red California wine.

First course: steamed stuffed artichokes. Put Pecorino Romano cheese pieces in the leaves.

Don't be a mamaluke: use Pecorino Romano - not Parmesan.

Simple Sauce:

3 cans of plum tomato puree.
dash of sugar
dash of sea salt.
red wine.
Thicken with a couple of spoonfuls of tomato paste. (keep it on the thin side)

If you want meat in the sauce: meatballs made from veal, pork and beef, not too much bread crumbs, egg, spoon of sauce, Romano cheese. Steam bake in oven then add to hot sauce, let stew for a couple of hours.

Homemade pasta: made with eggs, semolina and farina flour. al dente, of course.

Dessert: cannolis stuffed with sweetened ricotta cheese and chocolate chips.

Then, Napoleon Brandy and if she's really cool: Dominican, Cuban seed, cigars.

I don't know about all the appetizers and stuff but here is a sure to please easy to prepare meal:

My version of Chicken Primavera: Batter boneless skinless chicken breast in Italian bread crumbs. Put in to baking dish that is sprayed with Pam. Cook uncovered until the breading is a golden brown on about 375. When the chicken is ready cover it with a mixture of Italian Flavored Diced Tomatoes and Italian Flavored Tomatoe Sauce. Cook about 30 more minutes then cover with a combination of mozzarella and sharp cheeses. Put back in the oven to melt cheese. Serve with a good fresh garden salad and either garlic bread or rolls. You can even add a baked potatoe if you like to your menu.

The cigars are only for extra cool chicks.

I only got into cigars recently. You've got to try them, it's a whole nother world of goood.

You're not supposed to inhale, just savor the smoke in your mouth and since I'm a non-smoker that's easy for me.

Also, you dip the end of the cigar (mouth side) in the brandy and then light it.

Drinking and smoking - makes my Mama proud.

You can cook all day , but a woman she wants to go out and eat. They love to Dress up and watch you perform your gentleman duties( Car doors , Ordering their food, The chair) A first date Rose is always a good choice too. Not that this is your first date , but I personally would leave the home cooked meals to a later date, as you may intimidate her by your excellent skills in the kitchen.

10 is right...cooking at home isn't a first date idea for sure. After you've gotten to know each other a little (and yes, she's seen that you have manners in public), dinner at home is a great date idea. It's fun and relaxing...watch a DVD afterwards (or part of a DVD afterwards...)

Fettucini Alfredo... cook the pasta, add some chicken, some mushrooms, sauce in the jar and presto! You can combine that with red wine, go to Trader Joe's for good wine at affordable prices. Hey you can even get a flower bouquet for under $10.

here's a simple dish, quick and very tasty, unless you allergic to seafood :
Bleu Fish Fillet
5-6 pices bleu fish,
2 cups lemon juice
white pepper
1 stick margarine or butter

all you do is season fish to taste, melt butter, pour over fish, add lemon juice, bake in oven 350 degrees for 1 hour.

women cook casseroles......men cook meat...period.....you don't have to get fancy, just get something she likes, and find a good grade of it (ex.- she likes steak, at least get angus if you can't afford kobe......she likes fish, get sashimi grade tuna as opposed to halibut)........make a salad from baby greens, and make it exotic with crumbled goat cheese and/or dried fruit, and add a few vegetables and make her some drinks...easy as pie

not homeless you brat.... just know where my skills lie, and the kitchen isn't where.... I tend to cut off my fingers....

here's a simple dish, quick and very tasty, unless you allergic to seafood :
Bleu Fish Fillet
5-6 pices bleu fish,
2 cups lemon juice
white pepper
1 stick margarine or butter

all you do is season fish to taste, melt butter, pour over fish, add lemon juice, bake in oven 350 degrees for 1 hour.

Did you say cook fish for one hour in for @350 in 2 cups of lemon juice??? Are you sure???

What he meant to say was put a piece of coal in a tin cup and fill with vinegar and ammonia and put it in the microwave for 15 minutes......and run like hell

DISCLAIMER- ANY IDIOT WHO TRIES THE ABOVE DESERVES TO SEEN FLYING DOWN THE STREET IN FLAMES.

ck, yes, i use bleu cheese crumbles, store bought, usually at a fresh market though, the better the cheese the better the final product

So i saw a recipe earlier today that looked fantastic!!

Ingredients:

1 and 1/4 pound sushi grade Ahi Tuna
freshly chopped cilantro
flavored olive oil
seedless Roma tomatoes....diced
mango....pitted and diced

Cut up the tuna into 1/4 inch cubes and stir with cilantro and olive oil (drizzled), add in diced tomatoes and mango as you see fit, serve in chilled martini glasses.....garnish with salmon roe...........omfg........i want this right now!!

I don't make casseroles...not very often

I love makin fresh green beans with tomatoes, and fresh garlic also some spices and bacon with parmesan cheese on it...this can be done with any veggie...

I don't use cookbooks just creativity...

Sometimes I make fresh fish with asparagus, artichokes, fresh spices, fresh garlic, and feta cheese...
A nice greek salad, grape tomatoes, romaine, cucumber, red onion, mild peppers ...with feta cheese and pita bread...greek dressing
and redskins with fresh parsley and butter and fresh garlic...

I make alot of fish, chicken, and steak meals...
