yep some time that age thing gets in the way of lots of things
but it shouldnt matter on the first meeting especialy
now if for some reason you decide to take it farther then is when you are going to have to say hey what am i doing here
but it should be just fine with to concenting adults
and lots of us have been out of school long enough we cant remember how to spell

if you havn't kept enough self respect, to be healthy and in
good shape, well then that puts up red flags as well....

I have to agree that it is the person if you are asking then you have a problem. I know I have a hang up about age. I don't mind 10 years difference but when we are dating the same or around the same age of your own kids then I start to have a problem. And that might be because of my smart ass oldest son. I dont mind the teasing for a while but I wouldnt want to be teased about it for a long period of time. Maturity does play a roll in it too. I have to admit I have thought about younger then 10 yrs and I realize I have a problem so I have to try to work on that.

What has been brought up to me is that if there is a big age difference, more than 10 years, chances are you will end up being their caretaker, (if you are the younger one). That was what was pointed out to me. I pretty much stick with five years younger, five years older...but, I think it does depend on that person and how good of health they are in. They may outlive me!
I recently had a man who is 75 wanting to met me (he lives in the same town as I do). He looked pretty good in his photo, but, I'm wondering if he has children my age...also, I exchanged a few emails with him, but than a few days passed before i responded to him...he wanted closure, i responded, but then he didn't remember who I was...pretty funny!!!!

This reminds of me of A story my mom use to tell me age does matter and the man should be older then the woman and then my dad told me age didn't matter and the woman could be older then the man or the man can be older then the woman.So I always went along with what my mom told me but the only diffence is I beleive in love at first slight.

Age doesn't matter as much as where you are in your life.
I am only 39 but my kids are teenagers and I have no interest in starting over so I tend to date older men because they are in the same place in life as I am.
The biggest difference I have had in a relationship is 20 years and it was not age that broke us up.

Do you feel differently if the man is older than you do if the woman is older?

My 2nd mom (bestfriends mother) was over 50.. dating a man who was 26. He was 6 days older then her oldest son. Did WE think it was odd.. Yeah but they worked. They worked and that was all that mattered. They had the same mind set and got along like a couple that had been together forever.
I think really age difference only matters from 18 to 25 and part of that is that you change and grow up so much in that time frame that it may not last. I myself have yet to date anyone within 5 years of my age. Most are 10+ years older then I. And perhaps when I get older I'll date younger men if I have yet to find a rich man that will treat me like a trophy wife and throw money at me just to sit around the house and direct the help..... **sigh** Any takers??

I think age has to do with the people involved in the relationship.I was involed with a wonderful young woman a year ago that was over 20 years younger than me.It all started out as a friendship and one day she asks me if I would ever ask her out on a date so I did.We had 6 great months together then she had a super job offer in another state.I asked her to go for it if this was her career goal.We still chat once in awhile and she is now dating a man more her age but she says that she learned much from me.I told her that I was greatful to her for being such a great woman.
So no age does not matter it is the person that matters!

k hess ..... in your case, age does matter ..... the very fact that you are questioning that tells me so. Additionally, you are 42, young enough to have children, if you were to get serious with a woman. She is over ten years older than you ..... at least 52? Yeah, she is too old for you.
Get someone around 35 to 40 years old.
