I don't think they've forgotten. I think parents the past several generations have failed to emphasize characteristics to look for in a life-mate & the purpose of dating (to find that person). So they probably never touched on the subject of commitment either.

Not a religious question, and not really just the US. I believe that ppl have gotten too comfortable with a society that anything goes. It used to be horribly looked upon to get a divorce, or have pre-marital sex, or even go out with a person alone that you wren't married to. Over time the progression of laziness towards relationships, has become an epidemic. From the thought well I will get married now and discover my feelings for him or her later to the well as long as the sex is good then everything is good and it will last forever. Of course if you don't truly know who you are marrying befor eyou get marred, then your chances are very slim, and as for the sex I have never heard of a relationship where the sex stays just as good and as often as when you first start, so if the sex gets worse so does the relationship. i belive its not neccassarily the commitment factor, but the hurry up and wait factor that is the cause for the loss. Get to know someone for at least a year or 2 before jumping into it with them, and always listen to yourself. You can never change a person who doesnt want to be changed, and believe it or not most ppl do not want to be changed.

why isnt this a religious question? am just curious. I dont usually read the Religion or Politics forum...
When you get married, in a church or Justice of the peace, its before God, family and friends! This is the first forum I have noticed someone say they cant post something... kinda reminds me of being told I cant attend church anymore cause I wouldnt get my divorce annuled....lol How very judgemntal of you Elf... wow You must be a great Christian
I have my own beliefs in God, but I dont push them on others...btw

Yeah Wind, I agree..... for some its more like fast food service for lack of better words than getting to know someone. I think thats why I am enjoying internet so much more. Get to know people much better before even meeting. Well thats my thinking anyway. Being friends first is way more important.

Ok well then maybe it is a religious question, I was stating my opinion that relationships unless dealing with God or religion are more of a relationship question, and I know of no religion involving only the USA and the relationship question. I do not recall ever saying to put this thread somewhere else, or saying you can't post it here. So calling me judgemental for saying my opinion about something is I don't know, maybe being judgmental. Please do not read things into what I say that I do not say myself. I consider myself a Christian, but I know that I am a sinner just like everyone else, and probably more of one then some. If you can show me one statement in that whole paragraph where I said anything to the effect of you should belive like me, or better yet in any of my posts then I will erase every post I have ever done. I do not prosthelatize, and I do not want anyones belifs shoved down my throat so i would never do the same. I am sorry if you feel because I said this is not a religious question that you should belive it is not one, but as with all of these forums I was under the understanding that they were here to put our own ideas and comments on. If I am wrong I will digress and take my comments to whereever they are welcome just let me know.

well not that they forgot , its just no natural affection and no respect and puff up with pride and me first world and get even ,and so on and so forth....but i can only speak for my self am glade that i still have my conscience in tact, because right is wrong and wrong is right, but if you still have heart to what goes on people step on you, so yep, i am the one people step on because i refuse to give in to the change of this system of things ran by Satan of course, but soon THIS TOO SHALL PAST!

it seems that a whole lot of folks have where does it end? what a sick world i was wild when i was young but when i came to jesus and gave my life to him I live in his kingdom and i live by his grace which is not licence to sin but( empowerment) to overcome and be a light a testimony for this generation i can live with sex or without as the lord empowers me to be a single mom at the moment
