I left about a week or 2 ago to go say my good byes to my grandaddy..,
Who past on to his new home with the lord.:
I am a bit shaking up still and I'm trying to just make sense of it al...,
I didn't know how sick he was until I talked to his sis in GA...,
It's Sad that we had to have a family reunion and a funeral all in one,
But that's just what We did. It was sad and at the same time there was some joy.
I think they did him justice with all the military coming out and the police escort.
My Grand-daddy was born in 1926 , Can you believe that?
I was like wo!And he made it threw all that and still smiled and joked,
We talked about it all from when he was a child up to when he was raising us bad ass kids , we talked about my Grand-momma(Nana)who too raised and supported us threw the yrs(GOD rest her Soul) I had forgotten what a Lil rotten kid I was...mind you I had manners and was told I always used them but ohhhhhhh when I didn't get my way God help them(lol).
I was told to that we all was so spoiled and no one but Nana could control all 6 of her grand-kids and her 3 grown kids and no body was allowed to spank us,Mind you we did get spankings) just long as she didn't catch them doing it ,lol
I saw picture of my grandaddy and Nana as kids and of my mom and auntie and uncle, it was breath taking, and it was sad to see that the only one left is my uncle and that we all cling to him and as much as we wish they all where here we know they'er in a better place and all 4 of them(my Nana,My Grandaddy,my Momma & my auntie )but missing them and letting go was and is the hardest thing(even thou i wasnt close to my mother i love her).
I am left still with so many questions and I am thankful that my Granddaddy's sis, my Great(?) auntie is there to answer some questions but I really miss my family!
Funny how they shaped me into who I am today, motivated,strong and all that,I always said I'd want a marriage like they had(Nana&Grand-daddy),
I'd want a relationship like them and you know what,I pray that someday I get that..,
But I am me and I am a reflection of them but I too am my own person and I never thought I was really,my own person that is,i thought i was a follower(im am but i lead more than i follow)
I never knew how strong & proud I was, until Ii realized I came from a very head strong proud family! We live & lived in the house that our slave owners had,My auntie G'daddy's sis brought the house from the orignal owners the as some would say the "master"
(his family had it)
I walked around the yard and thought of all my family gather there icking cotton(which we own as well&some peach tress too)Also I thought of all the rich histroy that came from this land I was visting and in-herting and I cried, for my history for my thankfulness and for the lesons im still learning , for my people i cried!
We are blessed and are rich with love and with knowing and its beautiful...,
To see so many faces and ages that can still tell the tell's and my kids got to hear those tales and re-live the history, I thank my Grandfather even thou his death brought about sadness it took me on a journey I can never erase from my life or ever want to forget, My history,My people&My family!
I have so many aunties and uncles and cousin and so forth that it's now hard to keep off the phone's, My kid's cried and laughed at the story's that were told but now they too understand Black history a bit more and I too learned more about my African roots
and I am TY for them and ever so grateful for the MAN that loved me and struggled for me& with me for most of my life, I say Ty to him cuz look at me now, I'm empowered because of him to strive for more to be and do better it's all because of them that
I am here STANDING on my own 2 feet and doing DAMN well with my life, the lessons ain't over but these ones have made me better and I( say TY!
