First off, the term "real man" is subjective, and it is going to mean different things for different people. Some will want one type of man, and others something different.
The best any man can do is be true to himself, grow and learn to be the best he can be, and he will attract a like minded woman who will respect and love him in all ways.
The main thing is what happens after the attraction developes into a relationship. Will they work together for mutual betterment and growth? Will they keep the communication lines open, or start to take each other for granted?
Everyone is an idividual with preferences, and different terms and aspects are more or less important to each. Be honest and true to yourself and you will attract the woman who appreciates you for who you are.

Well some of us can't find any of you, lol, and when we do, you're taken! I don't know about some other women but that's what I like about a guy. I've been looking for a long time, thought I found one but ended up I was wrong. We're not scared of you guys it's just most of us give up after a few times of being hurt and "settle" with the next man that gives us attention.

Not afraid of REAL men at all. But finding someone "real" on a online dating site is the real challenge. Sometimes I think they forget some of us are here to be treated as we would like to be treated in person. I highly doubt some would say the things they do on a first date or if they met you in person. Thats what i would like. Real feelings, real thoughts, real conversation. Probably asking for too much hu?

Not asking for too much at all..but it does seem women I have talked to are just here to socialize they say otherwise but I do not get that vibe at all...but then again i have spoken to a small cut of the pie...

We are not afraid of the real men, it is trying to figure out who is a real man and who is just playing. It all starts off great, but in the end is when you figure out who is playing you, by then it is too late!

In today's society, unfortunatly, most of our social graces have all but vanished! There is little respect for our country, the flag, authority, and last of all each other. I too was brought up on old fashioned values. I am first and formost a gentleman. I love treating women special, pampering them, opening doors for them, romancing them, and will alway go out of my way to give up a seat for them.
It is unfortunate that many women feel that this is an insult. Women's liberation has taught them to resent this. Women do NOT want equal treatment. Case I in point: I asked out several women who demanded equal treatment. I agreed. So we went out and they paid for 1/2 of the dinner, 1/2 of the movie, 1/2 of the drinks; I did not open the doors for them....you get the point. I was treating them EXACTLY as I would a man. NONE of them liked this.
Now in all fairness, I hated this too!
Women are not used to being treated like ladies, and there are few real ladies out there to. Unfortunately, there are alot of guys out there that think with their penis' and are in fact jerks. This is also a reason most women do not trust men.
I totally agree on this point. WOMEN, if you want a real gentleman, you need to search hard but when found we are better than gold.

OP you are right on the money with your post. Women who grow up around unhealthy males and don't learn what it is like to be treated with respect and love do gravitate back to the types of males they are familiar with. Even though they don't like those type of men that is what they go for b/c it's what they know. Until they realize it and break the pattern they will continue to choose men who aren't worth having.

Apparently everyone has a different definition of a "real man"
much less a "real woman"
I think it's a mutual respect for each other. Both sides have to give and take to make it work. Both sides need to show kindness and do little things that show they care about the other. Everybody wants to be wanted and needed.
Yes, I would like the man to take the lead, to hold open the door when we go inside a restaurant or store, to make dinner sometimes, and yes...bring me flowers. I really love that. The thing is... I do nice things for my guy as well and don't even think about it. It's a part of me when I care about someone.
I don't want a mousy man who wants me to make all the decisions, or a dominant one who thinks I can't make ANY decisions. I want to and will voice my opinion but you have one too. Don't MAKE me do anything...ask and it's yours.
I want a partner! I want a lover and best friend, someone to laugh with, care about, hold hands with and snuggle up with in the morning.
why does that seem so difficult to find...

I've never had a mousy guy IN my life, but they do exist. I know I don't want one.
I've seen enough domineering guys too, don't want them either.
Certainly not comparing to anyone I DID have, that's for sure.
If we DID have them and they're gone there had to be a reason so why would we compare that to something we want?

Real women are not scared of real men they just have been down the road with the fake men, so when a real one shows up, there is apprehension or hesitation and suspicions as to what the motives are.
So just be yourself and the goodness will shine through and trust and acceptance will be given. Just be patent and it will work out.
