Some may really need to think this through before answereing.I had a left masectomy a year ago. This makes me feel very unlady like.I have prosethics and they look fine under clothes. But to get into the dating game do you think reconstruction is required?Scarry thought to get involved and even though they know I had the masectomy, they know me, and like me for who I am, this could be very awkward.Dont you think?Or lets play if it was you game. What would you do

Thats the question. Not that simple. They will have to move the muscles just below my left shoulder blade to the left front, then place tissue expanders, then the silcone implants.Total surgery takes 7hours.Then have to wait 6months before getting the right side done to match. So still be 8months of looking or feeling deformed

Go for it...anytime you decide to have any kind of breast surgery it should be what makes YOU most comfortable..not the guys. Men come and go but your body needs to last you a lifetime.

I agree...whatever you do....do for yourself because if you do it for someone else and you're not comfortable or feel self consious then it was completely pointless. I personally would get implants because alot of my feelings of sexiness stems from my breasts...but that is just me!

well, if you are uncomfortable, then i would say go for it too. it's about how you feel about your body, don't do it for anyone but yourself. there's a tradeoff for everything. it is surgery, after all, and i'm sure there will be pain, but that's temporary, and if it makes you feel more comfortable dating, then I think you should . . .
so, if it was me, yes, i would . . .

Lilbit, I'm sorry you're going thru this. Honestly? I don't know if I'd do it. I've gone thru some major surgeries and the thing that scares me about what you're asking is that any time you have surgery there is always the chance you won't live thru it. Is having two perfect breasts worth that chance? Or is it better to find someone who loves you for you, scars and all?
I'm not saying you shouldn't do it. I'm saying that it's a tough choice and I wouldn't want to be in your shoes. Your breasts don't make you a woman, and any man who can't accept you without one isn't much of a man. Good luck, I'll keep a good thought for you.

if you are interested in meeting some one that will choose you for your look instead of you values, then you have to do something on the issue
but if you are looking for some one that is interestd in your inner person, your values and moral, he will not mind about the body
i am a male, and i thought i could give you a new view point, it was not my intention to disrespect your prefferences to get answer from ladies only

Lilbit, and anybody who has implants, please know that if your cancer returns or in cases of new cancer, doctors have a really difficult time in detecting it when an implant is blocking thier view. I worked very closely with doctors that read mammograms and I know this for a fact. Is it worth your life? Now, if it was me, knowing what I know, I may not prefer it, but I would keep what you have now (on the outside) and not mess with the inside. Haven't you had enough trauma? Seriously, my heart goes out to you. I know this can't be easy for you.

Wow this is a tough question because it involves health issues. My first reaction was to say if it was me then I would go through the surgery to have the implant done if it was something I knew would make me feel better about myself. I wouldn't do it for anyone else but me. But then I saw the post regarding the fact that an implant could cause the doctors to miss the early detection of cancerous cells returning and this could hugely impact your very life.
I think you need to sit down and look around you. Is something that is purely cosmetic worth the people in your lives losing you sooner than you were meant to go? Take a close look at the little one you're holding in the photo before you answer that....
Just my .02 cents
