 I was 18 yrs old 1974 and going with this girl. We got along real well. Never a fight just went great for us. We were in Oregon where she lived. I wanted to go back to California, she didn't. So I took Califonia and she stayed in Oregon. We didn't know she was pregnant at the time. She got married to a guy and still married today. Well she tried to find me on the net. She saw I was dead since 1992. She told my daughter and they cried. There was a guy with the same fist, 2nd and last name as me born the same year! Well 4 yrs ago she emails me. Thinking it was a half brother. I told her I was her dad! I told her stuff only her mom and me know lol. Well we see each other and call each other alot. Just love the kid. Her mom is still the nice lady she always was. Me and her mom taked on the phone. It went real good for us both. We laughed and even a few tears. Just friends now, nothing more. So I guess for me it is great! I am so happy she found me. I wonder how many never got to know there kids?. John

 Congratulations!!! I have a not so touching story but touching in its on right.
Just about 6 weeks ago I got a phone call. It was from a step-daughter from a previous marriage. I had not seen her since 2000! She wanted to find me cause I am the only Mom she ever knew and she wanted me to know she loves me and appreciates me! She is coming for Thanksgiving and I am so excited! And we talk just about everyday now. So you got your daughter and I got the only "daughter" I ever had in our lives now! Awesome...ain't God good!!!

 I have a friend who just found out he has a 14 year old son he never knew about.
The kids mother is recently deceased and the step-father won't allow my friend to meet his son.

I told him to hire an attorney and get a DNA test, surely he has some rights. He can't be blamed for not supporting a child he didn't know about. My friend is ready to step up and offer financial support to his only child.

I hope it all works out as well as your story has.

She didn't know at the time. When I lfet Oregon for California. She never know how to get ahold of me back then. She got married when My daughter was just a baby. They stayed in Oregon, The guy she married told his family that was his kid. They moved to Cal where his family was 2 yrs later. So for all these yrs his family never know the truth. He about died when he found out I was alive. It worked out for me in the long run. I have 3 grand kids to the plus. I'm so glad she is in my life now.

My story is a little similar. I met my mother when I was 38, and found 2 half brothers and a half sister. Two years ago we found a brother who had been given up for adoption. It's been pretty good. (I was raised by my father, my mother left when I was a toddler.)

It's gone well. She had been waiting for me to contact her, having promised herself that she would not intrude on my life. She left me with my dad, realizing that he could give me a better life and as it turned out, she was right. She did have a harder life to lead and after some time, I respect her decision.

I added a lot of people to my family, half siblings, and their half siblings, nieces and nephews, and it's been nice.

We corresponded for a long time, both my mother and my sister and I, long before we actually met so we got a lot of the awkwardness out of the way. I lived in the middle of the country, one lived in HI and the other in MD. Not only the awkwardness was handled, but some of the emotions surrounding it all were initially dealt with in letters and email. I think that took away some of the fears or reticence since you're not having to listen to nuance or to watch the effects in someone's body language as you're talking about difficult subjects.

I wish you luck getting to know your daughter and best wishes for a good relationship. If you have any questions or want any input, feel free to email me.
