Both are great..only difference is, lifelong relationship in certain states like NV = no divorce court, cheaper break up process.

When the relationship evolves from enjoying being together, to one of expectation, it becomes a job, not something we necessarily enjoy, I got a job, don't need another...
So value, I guess that is a relative term, subject to perception. I do think relationships in terms of male/female have much more to do with the mindset of what each really wants it to be, rather than maximizing production.
That is why the dating side is much more emotional, because that is what seeking a mate is about, fulfilling each person's emotional needs, not whether one needs a gardener or pool boy.

Shouldn't someone value anything that holds meaning to them, regardless if it was lifelong, or short lived?

The question isn't do you, it is how much do you value one and or the other. I value a back scratch, when it itches but when it doesn't. not so much.

All value is personal.
You chose what you value.
Just remember that one man's trash is another mans treasure.

I would value a life-long relationship in marriage if that were possible.
Seems there isn't any type of committment anymore, so good bye to any thought of life-long relationship let alone marriage, both should be synonamous.

When I was younger and expecting to have kids, I definitely thought marriage was the way to go. Now that I already have kids, I'm not exactly sure what is the right way to go for the future. Dating once you have children is weird.
