Okay, everyone says "Oh it's what's on the inside that matters", but am I going to stand a better chance meeting a better "calibre" of men if I am fitter and more confident with myself? Everyone gives men a hard time because a lot of them prefer slimmer builds, but they shouldn't have to feel guilty for the way their brains work, right? So here's the question. Although I know some men prefer "something to hold on to", am I going to have more to choose from if I'm slimmer and fitter?

My opinion is of me. I'm a very thin male, so I am looking for a slim female. Doesn't mean guys out there are like me. It's all in the preferrence were looking for.

I have a theory that men prefer slimmer (not skinny) because they can hold on to the woman and feel like they are being protective.......that's instinctive, right? I'm not slim at the moment, and a part of me wonders if I should be going to the gym before I try to navigate this dating labrynth.

You need to be comfortable with yourself and that exudes confidence. Men who like confident women will be drawn to you. I am an average built woman and the guy I am seeing is shorter than me and thin but he totally is into woman who have some meat on their bones as he says. SO hang in there and remember if it is a struggle to maintain a very thin stature, then it will always get in the way. You will be overly concerned with every thing you eat and if you don't work out enough. Be healthy, don't apologize for brains, confidence or size.

Yes, You should be going to the gym. But not for the guys. You should be going for yourself. As your confidence grows you will meet the kind of guys you are looking for. Even if you just lose some weight. The main thing is you will feel better about yourself and that is what the guys like to see.

Sky honey.Be who you are and when the right man comes along he will accept you for who you are.i mean if you feel you need to go to the gym for you then do it .But don`t let society dictate to you what you should or should not look like.JMO

Gee, I don't know. Post a photo. Whatcha afraid of? I Actually believe you have a better chance of finding men if you feel good about yourself. We all have looks issues with ourselves. Even the best looking people in the world think there is something wrong with them. There is a man out there for you, that I guarantee. No matter what you look like, someone will find you attractive. So come on, post a photo. Come to the light and cast your fears away. You will be found!

I agree with all of you. I'm not really that overweight, fortunately, but I certainly could lose a few pounds. I always feel really good after I leave the gym, so why is it so hard to get there in the first place? Just doesn't make any sense!

Well what am I suppose to do??? I feel like i'm going to break a skinny girl if I hug her too tight... and fat girls make the fender rub the tire on my motorcycle!
There is no real right or wrong answer to this question. If you accept yourself for who and what you are, the people around you will also accept it. If they have a hang-up about it... It's their problem, not yours.

Skye, that's an interesting thought about why many men prefer thinner woman (and I am among them). After I thought about it, you may be exactly right. But not all men do prefer thinner woman. Some of the guys I know like women who are a bit more buxom. It depends. It's an individual thing.
