Disasterous...maybe. Although they did bring me lots of laughs.
I've been divorced for two months now and have gone out on two dates. Both ended quite badly though so here's the stories.
Date 1: Things were awesome we had a lot of chemistry. THe phone calls were great and the date was great until we were driving around town trying to decide what to do. So he's asking me what I want to do when he sneaks in the "get a hotel" option. I laughed...I thought he was joking. WHen I saw the serious look on his face I found out he felt differently. I admit I was tempted but I hardly knew the guy. SO...on the thirty minute drive home every five minutes was the same question. I admitted of the temptation but explained to him why I out of respect of myself couldn't do that. So when we were like five minutes from my drive way he stops the car, unzips his pants, and asks me if he is BIG enough...really???????? WHY? I had the giggles I have to admit so I didn't wanna see or give my judgement in this giggly mood. So we had a good goodbye giving the situation and I never heard from him again.../shrug.
Date 2: He was ten years older than me...not the problem. THe problem was he showed pics that were at least ten years old, continued to hound me about my age, and constantly complained about how I lived in a rural area. As annoying as this was his driving skills FREAKED me out. I couldn't believe a man who was 38 years old could drive so badly. He was creeping me out by the time we decided on where to eat that I was trying to figure out how to get back home. After making myself put my big girl panties on I made myself enjoy my time. At the end of the night I was being walked to my door and he goes in for a kiss, which I dodged, but I believe it saved him some regurgitation in his face.
What I did wrong I'm not sure but I am hoping for a better date next time I go out. I mean really...

Evidently if you gave in to the hotel room idea in date 1 you still wouldn't of heard from him so no great loss either way i hope you didn't do what i would think would happen after the unzip cause he's a user loser!

I would say that first and foremost, you might want to pick a place to meet for a first date. It is a lot safer. Also, set a time when you have to leave or be some where else. If you want keep the time and place open, that way if the date is really going well then you can continue it, but if the date is disastrous, well then you have your get out of jail free card.

Thanks I never thought of that. Well the last two dates have been picking me up at my house...which is safe, lot's of people around. But I think I'm gonna end that so I'll have a get away car if this happens again. I know that sounds horrible but I really think I need a way out.

Why are you getting in their cars for crissakes? You need to be way more cautious hunny...your at their mercy completely. Take your own car and meet in a public place...or you could end up buried under his house....

I agree. Meet at a public place that is relatively convenient for both people. Use your own car. If a person doesn't have a car, then take a taxi, bus, train, get a ride from a friend or relative etc.

just meet them for coffee or for lunch. I wouldn't have them pick you up on the first meeting either.
