One morning, my husband grabbed his car keys, told me he was going to the store and would be right back, gave me a hug and a kiss, told me he loved me and walked out the front door...never to return.
He died of sudden death while at the store.
I've discovered that I"m not one of those women who "needs a man in my life to live", so I'm willing to wait until I meet the man I "can't live without".
Life is a test....I'm learning patience.

I'm single because maybe I'm too picky. sometimes I think maybe I've become a little too hardened and don't give folks enough of a chance. I'm single because I'm 44 and not in my prime. I'm single because I struggle with being the aggressor regarding who asks who out...I just can't do the asking and am not comfortable with that at all. I'm single because I probably need to broaden my network. I'm single because of all those reasons and probably more.

I have yet to meet someone I am compatible with enough to live with. I don't have any walls up, let men in emotionally but compatibility is hard to come by. You can have deep feelings for someone but when you look into the future, is this a person I can live with?

Not by choice. Why are any of us on this site if we were not looking for something? Life is too short to go it alone. However, finding true companionship can be a chore, but once you find it was it not worth all the work. Everything comes at a price.

I think better of myself not to be with just anyone because of being alone.I have seen
soo many women suffer in relationships or should I call them "Sickships" ,who were willing to accept any concequence not to be alone. I know through my own experience whenever I made a dicision out of desperation it did not turn out good in the long run. So now ,yes it would be nice to have someone to share your life with ... Im just not willing to pay the price anymore just to have someone there. I may have nights where I sleep alone .... but I sleep!!!!!

If you mean NOT MARRIED when you ask why we are single, then I will say it's because the lady I love does not feel the desire or need to be married in the legal sense of the word. We are deeply committed to each other and don't need to be married to be a couple.
So if you are in a committed relationship, but not married, are you still considered single?
I don't consider myself single.

I was divorced as well. I felt more alone when I was in the marriage. My husband then decided "drugs" and "violence", were important than the vows we took together. Not a shed of tears from the last few years and certainly began to live a good life after. I chose to meet people then and through it I found some good friends. Then, I decided to concentrate on my life, career, etc.. I never felt alone, God, family, friends were always there. Now, it would be nice to meet someone good and hopefully find that special someone that knows the importance of relationship.
I pray all the best for everyone on this site and every site out there. if we are serious about looking for that right one, we should take time. Talking, chatting, texting and meeting are good but listen to what is being said. The good thing about meeting people is that it is a fresh start, but really listen to what he/she says.
If I meet new friends from here, then great! If I meet that special someone from here, then even better. I have talked with several men and what I find wrong is that many of them would say what you want to hear, but yet the intentions are not the same as yours.
Unless, fwb is what you are looking for.

I was widowed in 2004; I made the big mistake of "settling" for a quick partner , and I got what I deserved: she left me for an old boyfriend of 30 years ago, and married him 22 days after we broke up. Good thing I didn't marry her because we were actually affianced!
I have been single now for a few months.
Why? Because I learned from the last relationship. I am exercising my choice to be PICKY this time, and not have to "settle" for what comes next.
This time, I shall take my time, and hopefully find the lady who would be there beside me until the day one of us is taken by our Creators.

I am single because I like my independence. I am with a man because I choose to be with him. I like being able to have my own house and not have to ask anyone for anything. If we have a time when we are not agreeable, either I can go home or send him home. I don't have to deal with those times of feeling trapped in a situation like when I was married. When I was married, I couldn't even go into another room to get away from an argument without being followed and being pressured to continue it until he felt like letting it drop and most of those arguments ended in some form of violent displays of temper, not physical to me but distruction to the home. I doubt if I will ever get married again. I don't even want to live with anyone. I am finally in a state where I have peace. I don't say that I will never marry again. It would have to be someone I was so head over heels in love with, that I just couldn't bear being away from them, to bring me down the aisle again.
