It’s that time of the year again! We are planning an inexpensive Camping Weekend Meet and Greet. Last year, two events were held with much success. It’s asked that all who have attended and anyone new who is interested, contribute their input to a date or dates. Is Memorial Day weekend and other holidays out of the question due to family plans…???? Would a June weekend be preferred?
As much as we would like to have everyone attend, it’s understood that folks have other obligations such as work, distance, or funds that will not allow them to participate for a full weekend of camping, but some people are able to come and spend the day or an a evening. *We would love to see that!!!! *
It will give people a chance to meet those behind the picture on the screen.
This poster, along with the help of a few others are working together to hold one here in the Northern part of Dauphin County which is centralized. The area will afford people the opportunity to relax, have fun, and socialize with others, but also attend many areas of interest within car pooling distances:
Examples are Hershey Park, Knoebel’s Amusement Park, Lake Tobias Wildlife Park, Fishing, Hiking, Biking , etc.
The idea of these Meet & Greets is to offer you, as a poster, low cost opportunity to meet other folks on a personal basis with safety in mind and still have fun doing so.
Your input will not only help with one Meet and Greet but will also help others who may want to “HOST” one of their own.
So  let us hear what you have to say and share your ideas in this tread. This will allow all the poster to view your input….Thank you!

NOTE: With-in Dauphin County in the Southern part, the State Capital Complex is located for those who are not familiar with the area. The area of interest for this event is approximately 17 air miles North of City of Harrisburg.

I am okay with Memorial Day weekend. If it turns out that a weekend in June is preferable, the only one for which I have plans already is the 12th and 13th.

 My family has cookouts for Memorial Day Weekend.
I would prefer June 5th weekend, plus It might just not rain, and be warmer!!!!!!LOL.
But I will find my way there if only for a day or nite , just to meet everyone.

Please allow me to address some of these posts here one by one:
Mow, Trish and John, Paul....thank you! I do know each of you would help in a heart beat with what ever was needed and would/will be greatly appreciated.
Sweetsugar....It's still a "RED" tractor and the old goat farmer isn't color blind yet...at least I not be thinking so...
To address that question/s....Your right...I don't like asking and I know you could handle something like that...For right now....the need to find a date and set that date into stone is the first thing at hand, this is why as much input is needed so many as possible can attend. When the time approaches to a date, then who ever wishes to help with the event may do so.
Yes, the event, M&G will be in the area of LYKEN, Pa. but just a bit South West 7.1 road miles and East of Halifax approximately 10 road miles. When the time becomes closer to the event, directions will be posted in the "EVENT" section of that post for all the viewers.
tcpco....I do understand and you know you will be missed but closer to a date, I will send a land line message with hope that you will be able to attend.
Stumppy...hang on to that apple wood for sure as it would make some good smoke flavor for cooking them tasty meats....otherwise....the property consists of 54 areas with only about 7 areas of grass and the rest is woods....no problem with finding something to put
on the campfire or for cooking over....thank you for the offer...

Shoulda pruned that damn tree, years and years ago. But, Dad wouldn't let me. Now it's my call.

Shm....yes you did visit the area of interest for a meet and greet but don't you think a bit of the ruff around the edge thing is why they call it camping.... ....Shoot, if you wanted all the modern conveniences then your not really camping, your just dragging the house with ya. The plus is....your not bearing it all out in the wild....
Mow....there is a plus to the outhouses of today....they got seats instead of just a hole...other thing....no more corn cobs or newsprint like the Sear Catalog for the after...now it's a soft roll with sometimes a fresh scent...wonder why...
Sweetsugar...yep....you all did come up in the world with modern things...you got hand pumps fer the water now....even a duel purpose bike to create electricity and give your a butt a ride....

baby sitting you look like you put your time in with kids my luck i have one get it raised and then here comes the next one 24 12 AND 5 i got smart and got fixed the last time around. ans i still got the crib from the last one as long as i hold on to it it won't happen again. but it seem to me as soon as i got rid of all the stuff gave the last thing away here we go agian. and my sister pasted when i was 14 teen so i got to raise her little girl who is like 28 NOW. but my baby sitting days are like no way any more. but i truely love kids so i guess baby sitting is ok i get to hand them back.

Good morning sweetsugar, yes I would love to come or was this to be private only invites? I dont want to crash anything? I am right outside of hershey so its not that far for me.
Gem4gent, yes my children are all raised and grown but at last camp % greet some were a little heavy on the sauce lol and I stayed with them until my eyes couldnt keep open anylonger. I didnt want anyone falling into the fire circle and the idea was to try to get them safely to their resting areas.

Sweetsugar.....As of this posting....only (1) new one has posted or sent mail which is nice to see. Again, it's with hope that we can get some new people to post more of what they would like to see. So if you have friends on your friends list or those that you have contact with, invite them to post their feeling here as to a meet & greet.

Once the date has been set, it will be posted as an "EVENT"...After three folks including myself have posted as attending, all those folks within a 150 mile radius of the event will be invited by DH in a special generated e-mail. So it's not a "PRIVATE" event or invite. It is to be noted... that if you are outside this area and wish to attend, you are more then welcome and encouraged to do so. If you wish to invite and have a friend attend with you, please do so....

The event posting gets lots of replies from all over the place. Even one from Maryland and one from New York in September. We all had a good time. I think my family was the farthest from the eastern side of the state, coming from the PIttsburgh area. A lot of the replies dont show up but enough show up to make it a good time for all.

Hey, Why are we inviting extra expenses? Everyone, weather permitting is looking to get summer started Memorial Day weekend, and all the camp sites jack up their prices, to accomodate the masses and fill their registers.
Besides, that weekend is typically a family get-to-gether thingee.

I'm a newbie and just started watching the forums here. Came across this one mentioning "camping",,, and so it caught my eye. I do enjoy pitching my tent and meeting folks of the like. I would be interested in attending this M/G. So I'll try to keep an eye on it's progress.
It's very dificult for me to say weather or not I could make it for sure. Work sometimes goes into the weekends without much (if any) notice.
But as long as I have a free weekend and nothing grabs me from the homefront,,,,,,, I'm always ready and willing to roll.

Came in here to look at these post and all I can say is...you gals ain't right.. From bikinis to pole dancing, next thing you know....you'll be putting us men up for auction....
wingerinpa....Welcome to Pa. Chat and Welcome to this tread...Newbie or not, I do hope you will be able to join us at one of these events.
First off....Looking over the posts here, many folks are under the assumption that this event will be held on the Memorial day weekend...Some have indicated that they could attend as other could not for a various of reasons.
My personal feeling on this is as the question was asked on the first page of this tread... "Is Memorial Day weekend and other holidays out of the question due to family plans…????" I would say YES, reason being, spending time with family on any holiday is important and sometime that is the only time available.
Second part of the question.... Would a June weekend be preferred?
Sweetsugar has submitted June 5th and 6th weekend...THANK YOU...now that's a start.
Mine would be the weekend of the 12th and 13th...reason being....to close to the long Memorial Day weekend allowing a break in between.
With that being said...I still would like to see more of your input to these questions....
I would like to address one more thing..."COST"...As sweetsugar posted...The only cost for the weekend will be the $10 donation to help defray the cost of electricity, grounds up keep, taxes, etc. for it's use. It is a private owned area and that is all that is asked. More information will be posted later...Thanks

I think Chek is trying to decide On Dates for the Meet , keeping in mind the availability of the site, the NJ meet Date , the Knoebel's meet date and when people can attend!!!!

Perhaps I missed this in an earlier post and if I did, forgive me but ... what type of facilities are we talking about in the way of showers, toilets, etc.

It's been awhile since I've been able to hop online and give my 2 cents. I would love to attend a M&G in June. Now that I have a job, I shouldn't have any issues.
June 5th weekend sounds good to me as well. Where's this taking place??

Heh. Yeah.. had some real life circumstances that kept me away from the internet for awhile. slowly picking up the pieces.
As for the smiley faced pj bottoms..I think June would be too toasty to wear those. How bout my silk boxers covered in lips?

Hey Robin,, good to see you,,, Folks we could do this one in May also if you dont think it would be to soon or to cold,,,
If it would give Chek time enough to get it all ready,,
Chickets,, it has outhouses and there is no showers,, but everyone is brainstorming that one,, but it is camping and it is just a weekend,,, Wash the pits and privates and bring strong deodorant..... Good to go for two days, and nights,,,,lol
