What do you think of the Bin Laben peace offering? I got a good laugh out of it he must be tired of living underground and wants to see the light of day until he thinks he can attack us again

this peace offering is a crock, he doesn't want peace he just wants more destruction and pain. I feel he needs to be stopped but i dont agree with the entire war what we need to do is to try and have some one infiltrate the area secretively and try to find him and take him out.
but i really want this war to end i allready to have a brother be sent over, he is ok for now, but what if it gets worse.

Sorry to hear about your brother being sent over mine just got back. The only help I can give you is that freedom is never free, all will give some but some must give the last full measure in order for the rest of us to be free, it has been the basis of our country from 1774 all the way to the present . I believe that you would call it love of country for someone to lay down his life to save another. Commanders have dealt with the guilt of getting their troops killed in battle throughout all the wars unfortunately it is a catch 22 no one can be free if those that come before didn't pay the ultimate price, I will be thinking about your brother

To liferator:
"society is so self centered"
There are many societies that arent self centered. If your talking only about the United States, the whole basis on our socialization is about being an individual. Although I could dispute the idea that our society is mainly individualistic -- i've seen many counter notions.
To counter what you are saying about society being self centered, there are many societies that are NOT self centered. Just a basic list of some: Japan, Korea (N and S), China, Several Middle eastern states, Cuba, Indonesia, and a few South American states. There are many societies that also have some level of independence, but also have strong collective family values. Sometimes Vice Versa.
But whats so bad with having a society that has great levels of independence? Being self-centered can have its positive qualities.

yes it can have good qualities but to many people only care about what is in it for them, I am talking about America being self centered, when I was a kid in my hometown when something bad happened to someone the rest of the town would pull together to help out, nowadays if you pass someone on the street you have to pull teeth to get them to say hi to you. Is hi that big of a burden to say to someone?

I dont know if that behavior is all self-centered-ism. I could see what your saying though. Someone could think that they are "Better" than you and deserve better, or maybe that you are "worse" than them, so therefore they wont want to talk to you because you are clearly inferior. But I think it also stems in part because some people are a bit nervous to help other people out now. For a bunch of reasons. Maybe they want to make a good impression on someone so they're afraid of saying something wrong. Maybe they want to be safe and not get mugged, raped, or killed. Maybe they just want to have a simple day. So I do think some of it is fear of modern day society and the people in it. And yes, I do think there are some very egocentric narcissistic people out there, that could care less what other do. Its all about them.
I've gotten the cold shoulder from people casually and formally, from both women and men. For me if they are going to be jerks, assholes, and jackasses to me, i'm either going to ignore them, or, if they persist, then i'll return the favor.

I just love when you get those messages from people asking "why are you always posting on the 20's forums?". I could be wrong, but the last time I checked that 27 is still part of the 20's.
