theshowmekid Antioch, TN age: 31	idk wtf the deal is my x old lady btchs all the time..all u do is sit there and play that damn game..all day all night..that fckin game..mind u i do spend alot of time playing video games..but thats not the point..i could be out fckin some other girl..at the bar drinking away my weeks pay check..but no i chose to STAY home and play video games..staying out of the everyday bullshit(trouble)..not wasting money on shyt i dont need..(well got to have a sack)not out fckin some other b*tch..you know what im saying?so some PLZ explian wtf is the deal?

ge0ge0 Tallahassee, FL age: 41 online now!	I'm an avid MMORPG'er and FPS gamer and I have a nice collection of vid games and my ex would tell me it was all about being emotionally unavailable. I realized that I spent way more time behind the computer than I did with my family. I was available and I did walk away from the games to tend to the kids, cooking and cleaning and went to bed when I was beckoned. But I felt she was jealous that I could entertain myself and was rarely bored. We never could see eye to eye about the computer and family time. I work on computers for a living and am fascinated by them. Since she's been gone, I've actually spent less time on the computer and more time with my kids and dating. I chat with my mom regularly and she gave me some insight that I tend to withdraw into myself when there is problems with the family, work or my health. So in retrospect it was probably my ex that was the cause of my withdrawing into my little dark place and frag a bunch of munchkins to take out my frustrations. Now she's gone problem fixed!

grizz67 Bernville, PA age: 40	Playing the devils advocate; I think the problem is that video games are usually thought of as an activity that kids participate in. Most women are saying they are looking for a "mature", "responsible" man. I am sorry but most of the adult world frowns upon adult men who spend "too" much time playing video games. Be honest with yourself and take a hard look at how everyone in your life has acted towards you about your video game playing. Does your family, parents and siblings, make fun of your habit or make comments about it, do friends and co-workers make light of it? If your honest and the answer is yes maybe it is not a problem with everyone else, but some self analysis might help. No, you are not hurting anyone physically, cheating, getting high or drunk, but "adult" society does not look favorably on grown men playing video games excessively. In the end the only person you have to make happy is you, if your happy with your life as is than just go with it, if not make a change. Whatever. [Edited 1/23/2008 8:55:48 AM]

theshowmekid Antioch, TN age: 31	there is some truth to that..but the average gamer age is 16-35 so u mean to tell me that all these ppl are loser to the adult world?im not defending my question by no means but fck man got to have some escape..and 3/4 my friends play video games..and we aint kids by no means..some ppl read book...some ppl knit or sow..some ppl watch tv..which is boring all that is on is reality shows and contest for some prize weather it b money some chick or even weight...some ppl work out and some ppl even sit around looking at porn all day if u can belive that lol...i choose to spend my time playin a game..a interactive world where i can control what happen to an xtent if u know what i mean...im not a fcking crazy and gonna go postal and blame a game now come on..it seems like women make 2 big of a deal out of it..hell in the next 20 yrs everything will be like a video game..the military..driving a car..video games dont help our society but they sure don't hurt it by no means........PEACE

grizz67 Bernville, PA age: 40	I completely understand what you are saying, but you asked the question of why is it such a big deal to women so you have to expect some negative answers (in your eyes) to your question. I don't have a problem with your gaming, I was simply trying to give you my personal opinion as an answer to "your" question. You are probably right that one day everything will resemble a video game, but not yet and anything new is always met with hurdles to overcome before it is accepted. I know of at least one of my friends who's marriage ended in part because of his obsession with video games. In my age group (40+), and even some in your age group, have seen changes come so fast that if you stop and think about it, it is amazing. We have seen the first remote control TVs, cable, cordless phones, cell phones, electric typewriters, computers, lasers and of course video games. In our day you could only go to the arcade to play such games and what age group went to those places? Pre-teens and teenagers, not adults. Our generations mind set is still that videos are a kids thing, hopefully the next generation will have it easier. In short I do not think you are immature or that playing video games at any age is a problem. Anything done to excess of course does pose a problem, but only you can decide if you are doing it to excess. starwarsfntc Milton, FL age: 18	dude, tell your wife or gf or whatever it is to stfu! video games are awesome! tell her there is a pause button, and if she needs to btch tell her u'll listen to her at the end of the level, or if ur playing online, when the timer ends... women buy stupid crap like purses everyday, my mother owns over 35 purses, each one costs over 50 bucks, which is RIDICULOUS!!! our games cost, what? 60 bucks now, but we don't buy them in excess, we play them, and when we get done beating them we buy anohter... it's stupid, i mean, i conmpletely agree with you, women have no say in how much we play nintendo. if she yells at u for playing nintendo, then she's just not patient..i mean, seriously, who btches when a man plays his games? we dont' b*tch when they want to go shopping do we? i mean look, we play games to get out of going crazy, to get out of reality becuz it's driving us crazy, work, people, parents, etc. we can't deal with life 24/7 we gotta blow up sum cars, kill a few meaningless people, and we can doo all of this all on only one game! lol... but, i've got a solution to your problem, as of now, your a reasonably good guy, so i suggest you give her what she wants, lol, become HER guy, she wants you to start paying attention to her, then do JUST THAT! don't give her a second to herself, i guarantee you she'll get tired of you fast and tell you to go back and play your games... it worked for me, it will work for you!
